| I am working a brand new dog! Tonight was night 1 of Beginner Agility...
We learned Jumps and Tunnels! Callie (Medic's "Foster" dog) is gonna be a fast dog when she learns everything, holy cow!
Callie is only 13 months so everything is set to 8"....
-She's never done target work, but learned that quickly
-Send over the jump to target... CHECK
-Call back over the jump... CHECK
-Worked both sides of the jump...
She was nervous of the tunnel at first, but with some help she soon learned that the tunnel is an obstacle that speeds up dogs!
Then we did one sequence. Jump to tunnel, she didn't even need anyone's help! worked both sides of that too... No issues...
Kinda nice working a baby dog again. (And it gets me ready to work the puppy, when I decide on a breeder...)

| So I ran my friends dobe Kira last weekend. It was our 3rd time together (one day in December, then one day in January just JWW and we've never practiced together.) We qualified our first three times in open JWW to get her title! And our first time in open standard, her owner got one leg on her before so she just needs one more.
She for the most part knows what she's doing, I just sort of suck. Here's a few videos from this weekend. Don't mind my awkward running...
I think this was my best run all weekend. (Normal people's worst :p) Friday JWW. She went 1st and won her class
Then Sunday... I'm so mad at myself for screwing up basically the only cross on the course. I had practiced both doing a front and a rear at that jump, then decided half way through doing the front that I wanted to do a rear which made her stop basically under the jump and just get super confused. I also think this is the first time she even knew there was a judge in the ring so she was a little surprised.
Friday she also qualified in Open Standard. NQ the rest of the time. Messed up her weaves Saturday in JWW and standard. Knocked a bar and messed up her weaves Sunday in JWW. Agility people are so nice though, they clap even when you suck! Makes me feel better. |

| You didn't look awkward at all to me. The first few years I "ran" agility I didn't run and I bent over at the waist with my arms flapping. You did a GREAT JOB!!!

| Adara; please have a video of what you are speaking of about him collecting at the entry. The only way I know to make them collect is by my movement; where I am, how fast I am going and/or turning. When doing the jumps are you sending from the side to get a wrap plus collection?
Jonesy's mom! Where are the videos/pics?
Dobelove; great videos! I thought you guys did great!

| V got his very first Novice JWW Q in AKC yesterday! For some reason the word weave had no meaning. . . which is weird because he has great weaves. Luckily you get to try 3 times. Third times was the charm and then he was fast enough to make time with 5 sec to spare. So a 3rd place! He runs preferred because I don't want him jumping 24 even though he more then capabale. I need to learn to control my arms while running. OMG! It is embarassing, lol. We go back today for JWW - leaving here in about an hour & a half.
So proud of my boy. I have video on my ipad - now to figure out how to get it on here so you all can laugh at my not so awesome running style!

| The Agility Journal Well someone forgot how to weave today which is pretty important in JWW! He was wild and high as a kite so I'm not super He also missed a jump but that was my bad. I think I should have deceled more so I will give him the first miss. The second and third I am so blaming him, lol. I will get videos up. Just have to put them in photobucket. The weather changed here. Went from warm and sunny yesterday to cold, windy, and cloudy today. A lot of dogs were all over the place so who knows. We had fun though. Sent from Petguide.com Free App

| Kind of a bum weekend... Well this weekend wasn't our best, but we are learning! My trainers/friends were right... Excellent is a whole new beast... We are no longer just tearing through the courses with ease...
Friday:
FAST he went FAST lol, just lots of zoomies! But that is what I expect from the first run of the weekend, that is actually the only reason I enter it lol
T2B he knocked a bar, the ground was really soft, so I am not sure if he didn't get a good push off, or mis-strided (I didn't have anyone video Friday)
JWW... He either got a refusal or Run-out... told him to take the jump and moved before he committed to the jump, and he followed me
Standard we got Leg 2 towards AX title!
Saturday:
FAST- He did the challenge but didn't get enough points... he kept getting caught by the tunnel he was running in front of to the send lol...
T2B - I can't remember what happend but no Q...
STD - NEW TITLE!!!!! Jones got his AX title
JWW - He took out the 3rd jump, so after that whatever course I walked I threw out the window and went for speed (nothing to loose, I like to push him)... So to push him, that means I have to stay in front of him, which means I do lots of crosses, and I almost took out the wings on the triple...
Just for y'all
Sunday:
T2B - Someone forgot what the word here means....
JWW - I didn't get my cross in at first and he took an off course jump... so that means speed work, and also I threw in 2 blind crosses, he's rarely seen in practice, and never at a trial. (crosses were good, but where I ended up didn't work so well)
Std - Great run up til the very end... my trainer said I didn't call soon enough, I think he just wasn't listening
But we had fun in Mobile... on the way home we got stuck in a parade, and so we got out of the car and got some beads, a straw hat, and a monkey!

| You guys look great!
That rear cross before the A frame in T2B was one I just did in practice and was told that a rear cross like that sends them that way.
Loved the videos!

| I've done rears like that before, Jones just wasn't paying attention to me today... all day... Someone on my facebook said it's cause I was wearing pants
(I never wear pants when I run, no matter how cold)....

| Jonsey'sMom - congratulations on the AX title. I have not tried T2B or FAST yet. I was thinking to do it once I got Pula into open and a little more comfortable. Then I will put both of them in and see what happens. FAST doesn't come up often out here, but T2B is pretty often.
I understand the no pants! I can't run in pants unless it is very cold or very wet/muddy. I just don't feel right running in pants, so I wear shorts no matter what. Maybe it is my Florida upbringing.
Thanks for the videos. I like watching other dobies run. |

| Rocketdoc - Fast is fun - you should try it. It isn't too difficult. Just points & a gamble. Novice isn't to tricky.
Jonsey - Nice videos - he looks great. His weaves look faster & he seems much more confident over all. Great job. Congrats on the title.

| Great runs to both of you!! I got brave and entered Flirt in a trial in March at the horse arena where I completely LOST her last year. It has horse smells, bird poop and this recycled material stuff in the dirt..which she EATS. yes EATS. She ran away from me snatching it out of the ground. Hopefully we will have improved Even Havoc did better than her there..Mr. I can't focus
I went to a baby puppy foundation seminar with kathie leggett this weekend and it was fantastic!

| | Agility Addict | Ooo what did you learn Adara?
Entering Elsie's first agility trial today, that's come around fast hasn't it? It will be April 13 and 14 (she turns 18 months on April 13 lol). Think we will just enter jumpers as I don't want to rush her through agility, plus I don't know if her contacts and weaves will be ring ready by then!

I will probably start running Reva (baby dog) in T2B to give her some more ring experience.
FAST is a little different and can be really hit or miss. Novice and Open I liked, the sends were fair and pretty straight forward. Excellent/Masters is a whole different game. Sometimes the sends are nearly impossible or require dumb luck. It is very difficult to handle some of the bonuses smoothly if your dog is well trained to read your acceleration deceleration cues.
I quit running FAST with Delta after she got her MXF, but I picked it up again when I realized how close she was to her TQX (10 Triple Q's). It is not a huge hit here in MN anymore, some places still offer it but T2B has started to replace it for the most part.
