We also have a trial this weekend (outside) but in a covered arena... Supposed to be real nice this weekend :p

It's been pouring since last night - agility canceled for today. Last I heard obedience was still going - I will go out there and check it out. The park is only about 10 minutes from the house. I was looking so forward to finally getting him going in akc. He wouldn't go potty this am - he went last night about 9:45 and he finally gave in around 10 am and braved the rain.

Wow, never had a trial canceled due to rain. To actually cancel the whole trial is pretty rare. We have stopped trials temporarily and then started back up again, but never called of the whole thing.

Consider the bright-side, I don't know how much agility trialing experience he has but if he doesn't like the rain, there is no point in trying to push him to work in the ring when he is still new to everything else going on. My seasoned dogs will work in the rain, although generally I don't like them to do so- too many chances to slip and fall, plus wet contacts can become a hazard.

I had a trial cancelled the 2nd day. The 1st day was pretty bad but we ran anyway. I doubt Flirt would have ran. Havoc was fine. The sawdust didn't help! Excuse my hollaring from late commands

Flirt and I went to an agility seminar for half a day with Kahie Leggett. WOW, fun. I am learning the art of the reserve post turn or ass pass! LOVE IT. I get the tightest turns with Flirt. Youtube example (not us)

No cancellation here. The rain itself was not the biggest problem, but the mud and muck everywhere. The jumpers course was soft and muddy. Standard was better but not by much. I slipped at the dog walk, aong the weaves, and then again near the end run. What a super mess!!! I learned a lot - like how hard it is to cue your dog when you are nearly on your a$$ in the mud.

I ran Pula in both elements. No Q's today but I thought she handled the wet muck and the rain really well, except her sit stays were not as good (but who wants to put there but into the mud). We had a wrong course in jumpers (the off course jump) - bad handler position. I didn't get to the right place. I actually had my own walk through as they were doing it while I was running my other dog in Open, so that stressed me a little. I have only run two trials with two dogs and don't have the hang of it yet. Then she got a wild hair and went loopy in standard, so I took her out of the ring. She wasn't paying attention, but we had a screwed up start and I think that made her nervous and a little goofy. And she did not finish the chute again---we were working on it and she was fine here, but not in the ring today. Will talk to my trainer and see what we can do. The problem I have right now is not that many people have hard chutes, and I am not sure if it is the chute material or the hard tube...
With Spree, I just could not get to the right place in time, so we had 2 refusals and a dropped bar, plus she missed her dog walk contact as I was running next to it almost falling down.
I really didn't mind the rain, but the mud was just really nasty. I took both dogs to a self wash place on the way home to give them baths. They both seemed to appreciate it.
Next week we are at the covered location, so it will be better. I will be there all day, running 1 Excellent, 1 Open, and 2 Novice courses...

They ran today but we were only entered on Saturday. They canceled obedience & rally today though. Since we don't get a lot of rain it tend not to sink into the ground. So there were big puddles where obedience & rally was being held. The agility field dried up ok but by the time they were running open it was getting bad. We went and watched for a bit.

So a little late, but Jones finally got his Elite Standard title (ASCA)...
no Elite Gambler legs yet (kinda like AKC Fast)....

He did take High in Trial on Friday though beating out my trainers Boarder Collie Ice

We also tried our hand at the Obedience ring... what a complete fail... Jones totally freaked out... wouldn't heel with me, no auto sit... even his recall was slow and you would have thought I beat him the way his head was slunk down... (sit/down stays were pretty bad too)... All things he knows, and does well out of the ring... he did a complete 180 of that...

Will be in Mobile, AL two weekends from now and Pensacola the weekend after

gotta get to Masters

Still not sure if I am going to Perry or Kiln though... my friends want me to go to Kiln, but I know lots of Dobe people will be in Perry

Kyrah and I started class with a new instructor. We are going to work on me getting some distance between us. Wont that be nice!

Dexter day before yesterday did his 6 poles channels completely closed!

Now if by some miracle I could get this construction crap behind us we could go to some trials. Going to record a Notice of Termination tomorrow on that looser!

You should try rally with Jonsey. You can talk to them the whole time and keep their attitude up. Vader just earned his first RE leg last thursday. The hard part is reading

We doubled our Q rate this weekend from the last trial!!! From 1 to 2!!! out of 10 hehe

We're making huge progress though. I had a table fault in standard with Flirt and she popped at pole 10 at the second to last obstacle in JWW...argh....she Qd in T2B today and 3 of the top 4 dogs were Dobermans. We did have a weave entrance bobble but she went right back in. The weave entrance for today's STD was tough, too tough, didn't handle it right and she missed them. Then blew by them in JWW. But again, we made progress.

Havoc did all his weaves yesterday and 2 today pulled out sniffing in the 3rd. I did an "ass pass" in that run for the first time at a trial. He's running fast and happy but it seems he can't run fast AND JUMP the jumps

Overall I am happy with our progress but I am a tiny bit frustrated not to get that darn Q (which is dumb but I'm honest!) Oh the other Q was Havoc in T2B.

Our T2B judge was the National judge too. Lovely lady nice courses and really fun.

I did remember to run most of the courses, really run with real arms moving and all (and I played competitive soccer for years so I KNOW how). I did very well at using the correct arms and turns to communicate too so must focus on that part!

Fun times this weekend. Pula went 3 out of 4 Q's. She finally took the chute today! She was a little stressy yesterday, but I was not feeling well and she seems to follow my state of mind pretty closely. She was 1st in all her Q runs, and she earned here Novice Jumpers title on Saturday.

I ran Excellent Jumpers with my sheltie, and we Q'd in both our runs. We are still having contact problems in Standard, but I hope we will get a handle on these soon. She is still young and lacks a little self control.

Pula is starting to make the turns in the air as she jumps, and is paying good attention to me. I am really happy with how she is progressing.

The signs are the easy part. They even tell you what you are supposed to do. The hard part is remembering how to count so you do them in the right order.

Vader runs this weekend - friday & saturday. Just fast & JWW. He is almost full height on his teeter again! Woohoo! And then to re-train the DW which I don't think will take long then we should be good to go for stds.

rocketdoc, great videos! You both looked great! I love the dirt flying from under her feet!

Kyrah last night at practice was smokin' for her anyway. I couldnt believe how fast she was going and again scared me half to death on the DW. I am going to work on slowing her down on that obstacle.

Dexter made it thru 12 poles once today. Was so excited!! His weaving is nothing like Kyrah's. I dont know if he is so excited he passes a couple poles or what. I stopped and worked on entries for a bit. I am thinking I need to go back to basics and do entries. So advise needed. Do I go back to one set of 2 poles...2 sets of 2x2's or leave it with six and treat on correct entry? Kyrah and weaves were a breeze. Dexter has me at a loss on this. But I want to correct it now before it gets worse with him running back and forth out of control.

I sent my entries in for two local trials. I am so excited and cant wait till the end of March and begining of April! Running both of them!!

Could his issue be collection? I thought my dogs didn't know entries but what they couldn't do was collect for entries. I went back to around the clock work with 1-2 jumps and speed. Sometimes I give them a collection cue right now to help also.
