River singletracked but he was 28 1/2" tall. My other two have bounced in the back.
Hmmm, just when I had Photobucket figured out, they went and changed on me. Hate that.
Oh, got it.

My puppy's uncle is renowned for the number of poles he breaks in the weaves - he just pushes his way thru at a breakneck (or breakpole) speed. Don't know how that gets scored if he breaks one - I know NADAC would NQ him. | Which Uncle is that???

| I could be wrong but I think the akc says a dog can't "plow" through the weaves. |

Originally Posted by VZ-Doberman I could be wrong but I think the akc says a dog can't "plow" through the weaves. | That is a statement about the equipment and not about how the dog handles the obstacle: 2004 regulations: "7. Weave Poles: ... Safety concerns include; ... poles where dogs can "plow" the poles without a discernable [sic] weaving motion and poles that do not return to an upright position by themselves after a dog has gone through them...." Performance: Dogs must enter the Weave Poles by passing between poles #1 and #2 from right to left. They must then pass from left to right through poles #2 and #3 and continue this weaving sequence until they pass between the last two poles. If the sequence is broken, the dog must restart the correct sequence, either at or anywhere before the location of the error.
I will go and check the current rules to see if this has changed since I know the obstacle restart has changed.
Current Regulations:
7. Weave Poles. The Weave Poles shall have a fixed base with a rigid upright, to support the pole, no greater than 4 inches high as measured from the ground to the top of the rigid support. The base shall be coated with a non-slip surface and may be no higher than ¾-inch and no wider than 3½-inches. The base should be secured, so that the weave poles do not move from their location on the course. The poles must be nominal pipe size of ¾-inch PVC (1-inch approximate outside diameter) +/- 1/16-inch tolerance and can be made from Schedule 40 pipe or furniture grade PVC, 40 inches in height, and uniformly spaced at intervals of 20 to 24 inches (22 inches is recommended measured center to center using two of the rigid upright supports, with a +/- ½-inch tolerance in spacing). Poles must be striped with a contrasting color so as to be visible to the dog. At a minimum, stripes must be placed at approximately 10 inches and 20 inches from the ground. The base support must be located within 4 inches of the pole on the opposite side of the dog’s path (e.g. the first support on the left side of the pole number one, second support on the right side of pole number two, etc.). It is recommended that the base supports shall be a minimum of six inches long and shall be located as follows: “Six-pole section” – centered and placed at the off-side of the first and sixth pole and the off-side of the second and fifth pole. “Four-pole section” – centered and placed at the off-side of the first and fourth pole and the off-side of the second and third pole. “Three-pole section” – centered and placed at the off-side of the first and second poles. (Based upon ¼-inch x 3-inch steel.) Poles that flex at the base (spring type designs) are not allowed. Performance: Dogs must enter the Weave Poles by passing between poles number 1 and number 2 from right to left. They must then pass from left to right through poles number 2 and number 3 and continue this weaving sequence until they pass between the last two poles. If the sequence is broken, the dog must restart the weave poles at the first pole, beginning anew between poles number 1 and number 2 from right to left. Dogs are allowed three attempts at the weave poles and then must go on.
So a couple of changes - the only mention of springiness of the poles is the new italicized section - spring poles not allowed and there is no mention of plowing the poles anymore, plus the other change is that you may have 3 attempts and each attempt must be a total restart.
Huh - learn something new every day - no mention of plowing. Lambert is owned by an AKC agility judge...

| Paula and I talked about Lambert after I ran Flirt at a trial about six months ago maybe? We joked about late bloomers and runnig through things vs doing things. She mentioned him plowing but not it being a DQ or any sorts. She's one nice lady Her courses were enjoyable too.

| Humbling weekend
Jones got 2Q's the whole weekend (out of 9 runs) 1 in NF (yeah leg towards that) and he did set the T2B... And no video to see if I was the issue or it was, well who knows... I wonder if it had something to do with back to back trial weekends? (his first back to back)
Friday he went spaz in NF... that's okay first run of the weekend pretty typical spaz. He set T2B that day.
Saturday the Excellent Std course had the weaves going into a wall (probably less then 10ft from the wall), though I still don't know why he would pop out of them since my backyard is soooo tiny that my weaves actually go into the fence... The Open JWW he knocked the last BAR!!! OMG!!! NOOOO... He never knocks bars, and everyone said he didn't cut it, so who knows... T2B someone got a little antsy on the Teeter and jumped off before hitting his contact... Grrrr
Sunday T2B knocked ANOTHER bar, again it wasn't a bad approach to the jump, but I made him stop for his contacts AF and Teeter...... sigh next run... Std I screwed him up (My fault on the course)... JWW he didn't listen and took the off course jump....
Still had fun, the judge made a comment about wanting to take Jones, that made me smile. She said I couldn't have lucked out with a better first dog/agility dog, and once we really start to click we could be unstoppable (That made my weekend)
We did lots of playing in the ring (things that I had been afraid to do, but had done in practice you know)
Layered a jump
I left him on the table and led out. So I could get in a tight cross
I did my first blind cross with him (will probably not do that again.. YIKES!)
I left him in the weaves
Instead of crossing the AF to pull to tunnel I tried to send him out to tunnel, didn't work, but I tried.
Was a very humbling weekend, but I still had fun, and that is what matters There is always next time.
Oh BTW the weave breaking question I asked my friend who is studying to be a judge/and asked a judge friend AKC would consider it Equipment fault and as long as the dog kept going and did them correctly the dog would not be faulted...

| I had a very humbling weekend as well so you are not alone. It's still hard to take when your dog goes butt wild. I had to Pull her 3 out of 7 runs and no Q's.
Awesome weaves and contacts all weekend. Bars weren't bad except for the few she plowed thru like they weren't even there. The main problem was sls and the madness that ensued when she broke them. I made the mistake of letting her get by with it the other week and now it's coming back to bite me in the butt.
On a brighter note, they got some incredible pics that I'll share when I get them. Next weekend is the last trial till the middle of January. |

| We had such a foul weekend prior to this one, I didn't even go to the trial this weekend. Someone must have replaced Bacchus with a doppleganger. We're taking two months off to regroup. |

| Ahhh poor Bacchus, even pro dogs have muffed weekends
Cathy I can't wait to see pictures!
Always taking deep breaths I don't expect Jones to be perfect, nor do I want him to be... I want to learn with him, sorry Jones, lol! I want to make mistakes with him, because that is the only way I am going to learn... For Jones, every run is a happy run, every run he gets to tug at the end of the run. He gets to met all his 2 legged friends, and never goes in the crate with me being upset. I leave that for after I put him away and go discuss with fellow competitors/friends.
Our next trial is the end of December in Birmingham then the following week back to Pensacola... Then I think end of Jan is ASCA and then a 2 day Feb trial in Pensacola again....

| Even the most seasoned dogs can have often weekend or slumps. Sometimes it is easy to figure out why, and other times it is just a mystery. You just have to go back and try it again the next time. Try and find things to work on and not stress about it.
One weekend can be phenomenal and the next the pits. Even from run to run! Delta and I have been on a bit of a slump the last couple weekends, but this weekend picked up a little bit. It was our last weekend competing before the invitational. I hope she has just been saving it up for then! Just when you think you have everything figured out something new comes up.
Weekend Recap: We ran Friday and Sunday (didn't get in on Saturday)
Delta (3 out of 4) - 4 fantastic runs, but we had a dropped bar in JWW on Friday. Double Q #16 (for MACH7)
Reva (1 out of 2) - New NAJ!!!! She is only running in Jumpers right now and finished her NAJ on Friday. She ran in Open today, but we had some problems with distractions around the weave poles.
Draco ( 1 out 4 w/ my Mother) - It was a bit of a rough weekend for him. He was high as a kite, and attempted to break his start line on every run. He Q'd in JWW today with a blazing run winning the 24" class.
Grace ( 4 out 4 w/ my Father) - Grace had 4 lovely runs and racked up more points and Double Q's towards MACH4.
Ava ( 1 out of 2 w/ my brother) - she only ran today and had 2 fantastic runs, but dropped a bar in JWW. Double Q's are sooo hard for her.
I was happy to see both Grace and Delta were able to run this weekend. It was a rough week as Grace was pulled from part of the trial last weekend after one of her toes swelled up. X-rays on Monday showed it wasn't broken (thankfully) but we weren't sure if she would be ready to run on it. Delta has battled with on/off lameness/stiffness that seems to come from her shoulder and sometimes her toes. She had been doing really good the last couple of weeks until she did a somersault in class this past Wednesday while I was doing a Ketschker cross. I felt so bad for her Hopefully 2 weeks of rest before the Invitational and her Chiro appointment will get her mostly straightened out.

| If you find it let me know.......I am in dire need.
Bacchus actually peeled off from me to visit the judge. We were in JWW and had a straight line across the ring of jumps. 2/3s of the way he just veered off and happily loped over to the judge. Why?? Did he suddenly have this deep seated need to make a new friend? Did he forget we were in the middle of a run? |

| The only thing maybe minus the end of the dogwalk I can't see (bug judges hand didn't go up)... If you watch where he takes the triple (the judges hand may or may not go up, she's almost over the pic) did he go over the stand?
And Jenny Jones got a massage on Friday before he ran anything... She said he felt great no spasms (well 2) but he felt really loose and good.
