I was fixing a dog bed the other day and caught these two like this. One can't be without the other so they are often together. I've not quite seen them like this though

Bengals are awesome! I grew up with one who was more of a dog than a cat! Very cool!

They are a handful but I’m not a cat expert so not sure how much more than a ‘regular’ cat. These two were poorly bred BYBs with owners who wanted to breed them for money. Emma didn’t stop screaming when they got her so instead of giving her attention, they got Leo. Emma cannot be separated from Leo. Emma was mistreated pretty bad and has a slight hip injury. She was bred to Leo and had 4 puppies and it took over 12 hours. Since they were all boys and couldn’t make money they dumped them on CL. I happened to have just lost my Vizsla to lymphoma and was home one week trying not to think about it. I thought hey what a project, take them, help them, fix them, rehome them…little did I know that not only would hubby fall head over heels, they are pretty sick kitties. They have IBS and only can eat raw. Leo still occasionally throws up. You can’t pet Emma but a few times in only certain areas. You can pet Leo but you can’t pick him up.

They get into everything. They race up and down the hallways 90 mph starting around 11 pm. They find a spot on a wall and start attacking it and pull the paint/sheetrock off. I literally tape a piece of cardboard until they forget about that area. Emma runs up and down my metal security screen doors. They knock everything off any surface. They warble loudly off and on many nights…but we love them just the same  I also have a gray torbie slightly younger in hopes Emma would also bond to her if god forbid anything happened to Leo. She’s so easy compared to them.

Adara, do you know their hybrid content? I've heard that the higher hybrid Bengals are usually harder to deal with than SBT Bengals.

I don't think they are very high. I'd say SBT. I wasn't even positive they were Bengals when I went to pick them up. I'd never seen a marble. It was a drug house and I just knew I needed to get them out. I had enough rescue contacts that I knew I could place them either way. I'm guessing lower content only because they seem to be very poorly bred and owned by people who just wanted to make money. I can't picture them spending much on higher level wellbred cats.

I did find out a lot of Bengals have tummy/intestinal issues. I don't think we should mess with mother nature. Many eat special diets, are on pred, etc.

Oh..they also get DCM! How lucky is that for me??

and I've never felt a cat with such soft fur. It's like a "pelt" or velvet. Everyone who pets them comments on that. I do feed raw and my other cat has a very very soft coat but not as soft as these 2.

It's actually HCM, not DCM. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, not dilated cardiomyopathy.

It's unfortunately becoming common in the breed now, so we have added them to our list of predisposed breeds along with Maine Coons, Ragdolls, and Persians. The last Bengal we diagnosed with HCM was 9 months old

I have a Ragdoll who is 8 yrs old now. So far I have been extremely lucky that the only major health issue she has had has been some mild periodontitis (oh and hairballs). It's in the back of my head though that Mouse may not have a lot of years left since her breed is so predisposed to some nasty stuff. I love a lot of the purebred cat breeds (Ragdolls and Bengals being my two favorites) but it's scary just how many health issues are affecting a lot of our purebred cats. I have to say though, as much as I love my Ragdoll she is dumb as mud...like REALLY dumb lol.
