| Journey: Almost 15 weeks old I just wanted to share some more Journey pictures while I have a moment! She's nearly 15 weeks old and is doing wonderful. I've had her for almost a month now. She's a fantastic puppy and is definitely growing into the 'take anywhere, do anything' dog I hoped she would be. I had a couple of days off this week as my work schedule seems to have changed for some reason, and so yesterday I decided to take her downtown for some socializing and to meet my mom's co-workers who have been wanting to see her. Journey comes downtown with me on every work day too, but it's different because we're not actually staying out and getting her exposed to things. She handles it well, but I wanted to focus more on her while down there rather than my usual focus of simply getting to work. She did great! A lot of people have zero dog manners or knowledge and she reacts so well to those people. I politely tell them how to properly pet/approach a dog, but still, even when they do initially reach for her face and rough her up, she just takes it in stride (and gets a handful of treats from me for being so good). She has a very go with the flow attitude and many people everyday compliment me on how good she is for a puppy, which is always nice to hear. She really makes my job easy though. She just has an inherently solid, stable temperament and all I do is reward and encourage what's already there. She hardly ever reacts to anything, and if she does get scared, her immediate reaction afterwards is to go and check whatever it is out. Yesterday in all the chaos that is downtown Calgary at lunch time, the only thing that really made her stop and think for a second was her own reflection in a shop window haha. Noises, weird people, strollers, bikes, etc. don't bother her at all.
I really can't say enough good things about her. She's definitely the perfect puppy for me and I have enjoyed every moment with her since the day she came home! She's been in puppy classes for a few weeks now, started Flyball on Sunday (but of course can't do much yet - she goes and watches me work with Dance and then we basically just practice recalls with Journey), and starts an "Intro to Dog Shows" handling class next week. She'll also be starting a Performance Puppy class within the next month or so as well, but that was put on hold because it was already all booked up and I couldn't get in. But what we are doing, she's great at! And she's perfect at work too, and fits in like she's been here forever at home. Anyway, onto the pictures!
She likes to lay on my feet on the train. She's learned less people almost step on her this way. Poor pup! But I don't really expect people to be watching for a dog when they get on, as although dogs are allowed, you don't see many on the trains.
More! |

Please keep us updated on her! I love seeing pictures. | I know! I told her to stop growing but she didn't listen haha. And I'll do my best! I try to find time for DT but it's usually when I'm at work and then either the computer there decides it can't load the forum (it's really slow) or I'm busy doing actual work related things LOL. I couldn't have picked a better puppy for myself if I'd tried. Her breeder did a great job matching her to me.
And yes, you do need to post a Gidget update! It's been forever!

I could look at her pics all the time.............. | Thanks you! And no worries, I'm careful with her. Maybe a little overprotective haha. She's really good on the escalator though. Hops on safely and gets off at the top quickly too. Not really worried about her feet getting caught or anything. Quote:

I probably never would either if not for some of the train platforms. All of my dogs have been on them as a result, though. But they didn't get used to them as puppies unfortunately. Ripley hates them so I just walk him up the stairs instead usually as long as the stairs aren't too packed with people. Keira doesn't care for the escalator but will get on. And Dance is initially a little weirded out about getting on, but she gets on and is fine. I haven't worked on it as much with any of them though because I only take them on the train a handful of times each throughout a year. Journey gets on the train with me at least 4 times a week since she's my work buddy, plus I've been taking her to a ton of places just for socialization. Quote:
Originally Posted by Hilltoprunner wow, those eyes! That sweet face! That calm demeanor! Great photos. | Thanks! Haha I'm not sure if "calm" is the right word for her. She's easygoing and takes everything in stride and is very relaxed in public and new situations and at work, but she's also very high energy and likes to be kept busy. She settles well, though. She fools people into thinking she's super calm, and I can see why, but underneath that facade she puts on for those that don't live with her is a wild and crazy get-into-everything Aussie puppy. :-)

Her collar is made by a company called Mes Ami. Apparently they have a website now, but I bought my collars/leashes at dog shows here. It's very soft and is not supposed to leave a collar mark on their coat, kind of similar to the White Pine collars other people have mentioned/used I think. :-)

| Oh, my, goodness. What a precious little furball! I want to steal her. The photo of her flopping over in the snow reminds me of a tri pemb. corgi I used to have. She'd do that all the time on purpose.
Please share her with us more!!
