| She's doing good. Still haven't gotten anything off Craigslist about her. We are posting up fliers tomorrow, there was a bunch of posters at the dog park for missing pit bulls but none were for her. We also got emailed info on places to get a low cost/free spay for her if we need to in a few weeks. |

| Sometimes things happen for a reason. This girl being dumped in your back yard was one of those reasons.
She needed someone to take care of her.
Guess that someone is you guys.
Thank you for trying to help this little lost girl. |

| She is beautiful. Pitbulls are some of the worst treated, most understood, yet most loving dogs I have ever come across.
My buddy rescued one from the streets of Brooklyn NY. Actually she (called Brooklyn after the streets she was found on) looks to be a pit/rotty cross. Vet thinks she may have been a "bait dog." Anyway this girl now lives on 40 acres in Appalacia with a lab/GS cross. She is an awesome dog and nothing but love. A little rambunctious at times, but incredibly loyal and sweet. But she is hell on sticks. If I was a tree and she would be enough to make me pick up my roots and move.
I am sure your family will not regret taking her in at all. They are terribly maligned, yet, amazing animals.
One thing for sure with Pittbull Terriers and Dobermans playing in your home and you could leave all your doors and windows open and no would be criminal would even think about coming inside.

So hopefully my aunt will fall in love and want to keep her! Then she would be right down the street from us in a good home. |

| I was just thinking about this thread today.... I'm glad to see such a happy ending!
A friend of mine had the same exact thing happen to her this morning. Woke up to find a 3-month old or so Pittie boy in her yard. Emaciated, totally consumed by fleas, worms, and a broken foot.
Good grief! What is this with dumping dogs in people's yards!? Luckily, someone has found a foster for the dog.
It's just bizarre to me to hear of this in such rapid succession. Color me naive...

| So my aunts boyfriend said two dogs is enough for them so they don't want her. Our friends friend who owns one of the dog show vendors around us wanted to meet her. And even though she was really scared at the show he wanted to take her home for the night and see how it goes with his other dog (also a pitbull.) He called a little earlier to let us know its been going good so far and she's already warming up to him! She's also getting along great with his other dog. Our friend who introduced us is also a vet who he will go to spay her and stuff in a few weeks if it all goes well. I'm going to miss her if he does end up keeping her but I'm glad it's with a good guy that will love her. |

Poor confused girly, too.
It is so hard, placing pitties successfully. I honestly don't know how the breed-specific rescuers do it, year after year, without totally burning out.
Long shot, but try contacting these folks and see if they can courtesy list her for you or refer you to someone who can: Home | BAD RAP
I was trying hound rescues as far away from me as Canada, at one point, and I'm mid-Atlantic US, so I sympathize.

I've been lurking in on this thread.. she seems like a sweet girl. I thought I read that you've tried pit bull rescues in your area/were looking for other forums but weren't having any luck.. I have an idea?
After reading your last post I remembered a thread on DT about blogs that people read.. there is a blog called Love & A Six-Foot Leash ... they do pitbull fostering/rescues in the Austin, TX area -- I know that's not near you but what about reaching out to them... maybe its possible they might have connections to your area or know of places that might take her in?? Seems like a long shot, but since it also seems you guys can't keep her.. might be worth a try?? Contact us Love and a Six-Foot Leash |

| So we have spent the past few hours at someone's house who wanted her. They had to put down their pit/lab mix last week. They are retired and spend a lot of time at home and don't have a lot of people coming in and out of their house. So besides free feeding (which they said they wouldn't do with her) they seemed like a really good home. She's there just over night because she's scheduled to get spayed and microchipped Friday morning.
My mom said if it doesn't work out for her then we will just keep her. I'm hoping it will so she can get plenty of one on one attention. |

| She was spayed today. The surgery went really well nothing abnormal. She woke up fine and was laying alert in her cage, but then about 3 hours later she started bleeding a lot so they opened her back up and couldn't find anything wrong. Not sure how long ago that was but they want us to come back right at closing to pick her up. Then we have to take her back in the morning to make sure the bandage they are putting on her is still good or something like that. Good news is the family absolutely loved her and said she was settling right in for the time they had her.
Side note apparently other people at the vet think Avril is really scary in her zebra print rain jacket. |
