| Reticulated python Does anyone know of any rescues that will take these? I ended up with one that was not being properly cared for, but have not been able to find a rescue willing to take her, the zoo said no as well. She is not overly aggressive, I just know she is going to get bigger than I can handle physically, and I do not have a proper enclosure for a full grown python. She isn't very big right now as she is less than a year old, but the older she gets the harder it will be. Any links to rescues would be greatly appreciated.
And for those who like to look down on peoples post.
*This snake was not bought*
*This snake was never meant to be my pet*
*This snake was taken from a home where it was being mistreated in order to find it a home with someone who has the knowledge and ability to take care of it*
*I have neither the physical size to handle this snake full grown, the space for an enclosure that is safe and large enough for this snake full grown, nor the time to mess with this snake it would require to be my personal pet*
*This snake is not in any danger at the moment, she is content in a 100 gallon fish tank (no water or fish in it lol) with a clean fecal exam, and a clean bill of health from the vet, she just needs some weight put on her (The guy found out if you starve a snake they will eat themselves ) and assistance finding a new permanent home*
*oh and I say "SHE" because the vet said it was a female* |

| | Alpha | I would contact these guys, ETHS.org Home Page if your area's Herpetological Society is anything like mine, they will have members who volunteer to take in rescues, they then place the animal within the Herp. society. Hopefully they rescue, its a pretty good situation when they have something like that set up.
Good luck with the girl, thanks for taking her in. |

this is the last place id bother asking about snakes tbh | I believe we both know had I not added everything under that there would have been an individual start an attack due to me re homing an animal. There are A LOT of people on here who like to look down on others (not just myself) any chance they get, just the short time I've been here I've seen it several times. I prefer to detour that away from me. No I have not signed up on a snake forum as I would have no idea where to start. I keep small snakes, easy to handle, easy to care for, low maintenance. She is getting Google care in combination with vet care- as in the temp. what to feed her, how often and than general cage cleaning and humidity maintenance- Better off than she was, but still not the best situation for her, she needs someone who knows something about her- |

| i dont know anything at all about keeping snakes but as there is a forum for Dobermann and there is forums for everything there must be a US wide Python or Snake/reptile forum that can help you.
Here you go i did a brief bit of legwork for you in 1 minute this is the best one i came up with its got 20k members and its US based maybe try them on there sSnakeSs.com |

| Maybe speak with a rescue in your area, ask if they can post on their site or in their adoption group that you have a snake needing a home. Tell them you'll take care of all the needs of the snake until a home is found ( Kind of like fostering). Good luck

| Ball-pythons.net is, obviously, a BP forum... but they have owners of giants and other species there that may be able to help you. However if you think this crowd is tough I will have to warn you that exotic forums are tougher. They will humble all but the most stubborn, and that will get you nowhere as a lot of important people in the exotic community go on these exotic forums. I still visit from time to time but I am much more a "dogs forum" person than I am an "exotics forum" person, even though I'm more of an exotics person than a dog person.
Good luck with your quest. Retics are wicked hard to rehome, especially with the python bans rolling out. Bad press (some of which comes from Animal Planet, sigh) and a general fear of giant snakes doesn't help. I don't have the resources or the will to take on such a large creature or I'd offer to foster.

| Yeah, you might have to go to a forum and be willing to ship her. Retics are very, very difficult to keep and a snake rescue might be able to help you screen homes. You don't want her going back into the same situation you rescued her out of.
Melissa Kaplain at anapsid.org has a page that lists a ton of snake rescues nationwide.
And yeah, I don't usually do this, but please stop assuming all of us are *******s right off the bat. We're not. There's a lot of good people on this forum who are willing to help.
Those of us here who know snakes are perfectly aware of how difficult retics are to keep. And most of us here who know snakes are either active in rescue or have rescued snakes. Anyone who's done pet rescue knows about needing to rehome an animal sometimes, if you kept all the animals you rescued you'd be in a world of trouble.
I won't go on a rant about people getting big snakes and then dumping them on other people, either. I'm glad you were there to get that retic out of a bad situation. Sometimes I wonder if people even bother to do research on snakes before they get them. And it's always the snakes that suffer in the end. I've had offers to take retics myself, and I just can't keep them- no room and it's too big a snake- but if I hear of anyone in my area looking for a retic and you're willing to ship, I'll PM you. |

| i've shared this with a friend who's in the big snake community. he might know someone.
edited to add: he's requesting photos. can you post a few? and can you confirm 100% this is a female snake? did the vet probe or pop her?

| alright, a note from my friend: Quote: |
retics as babies require smaller enclosures. I use sterlilte bins. As they grow I just get a bigger bin. The snake will eat a rat pre killed. It just needs to be warm. tell her dont feed live. If the snake is moving around a lot its stressed out. Offer a hide directly on heat. Belly heat is best. This allows them to thermoregulate better than a heat lamp. Plus heats lamps can cause burns. Offer plenty of water and just leave the snake be for a few days. If its not eating its not happy. If its just striking over and over, its pissed off. DONT LEAVE a rat in there overnight if its live. Rats can kill snakes. Its ****ed up but true. You can send this to her. In the meantime if she can 100% confirm sex on female, its easier to move out. I have a few people that will take her in.

| You could try posting something on the Bush League Breeders message boards. They are a great group and might be able to point you in the right direction. Retics are a hard placement, at least she is still manageable in size and of good temperament.
