| Welcome home... Minuet!
One of my husbands co-workers got their child a lovebird for Christmas... only to find out their child was allergic. They were going to put it on Craigslist... but they let me take her home instead. |

| Very cute.
What kind of Lovebird is she?
I kept a few birds many years ago, and discovered I am mostly not a bird person in that I love looking at them, but not so much on living with them.
But, I have a huge soft spot for Lovebirds, for some reason. I had a really entertaining lil dude who was quite charming and funny.

| I *think* she's an Australian Cinnamon Pied... or something like that. That's what I've gathered just by looking at web pages. So many mutations for lovebirds. She's already a real character. I'm glad I took her home. I'm calling her my Christmas present to myself. |

| She's pretty! This is a complete newbie bird question, but can Lovebirds learn to talk? We had a parrot at the pet store I worked at who had a very um... well, a very interesting vocabulary. Most of us were either in high school or college at the time, I'll let you all guess what words that bird picked up. |

| The little birds usually aren't good talkers. She may learn to imitate a few sounds or maybe a word or two but I don't expect much as far as that goes. There are some exceptions, however, Quaker Parrots being one. They can learn to talk pretty decently I believe.
Lord knows I'd rather not have a bird that can talk well living here as I tend to curse like a sailor and my in-laws don't know that How mortifying would that be to be outed by a bird?! |

| You would have thought the parents would have taken the child to a petsmart/etc. as a trial run for compatibility. Glad you took the little guy. Now he has a good home. That could be his x-mas present.....a good forever home. |

They are a young family.... mid twenties for both the parents and their little girl is about 7 I believe. It's a shame too... they had been keeping Minuet at a friends but the little girl overheard them talking about it and couldn't wait for Christmas to bring her home lol... so they picked her up sometime last week and it didn't take but a few days to realize that she was pretty allergic to her. She had pretty runny eyes and nose the poor thing and was absolutely beside herself to let Minuet go. They did, however, take her for a trial run at a local pet store for bunnies and I believe they brought home a little one for their daughter yesterday so all was right in her world afterwards. |

| What a cutie! I love birds, but like RFR said, keeping them is not for me. I'd always wanted some, so when a friend went on holiday I jumped at the chance to look after them and they drove me NUTS! Making loads of noise, throwing their food out of the cage all the time, some how getting poop all over the floor! And I made the mistake of letting them out for a fly in my old house which had very tall ceilings and spending the next few hours trying to catch them back again |

| Love the name Congrats on your new pet! I had two when I was a child. Ricky and Lucy...though they later came to be known as "Rikita and Lucious" when I had them separated and noticed Ricky laying eggs... |
