I thought the shedding was to and from infinity.

| I had a GSD for many years and it never occurred to me that shedding was an issue until I read it here on DT.
When I was young I had a Husky. By comparison GSD's don't shed much. I suppose like a lot of things, perception is based on your other life experiences.

| Beautiful baby!!!!
Sheps are one of the cutest puppies.
We have our Claire, now 7, and she was a stunning puppy.
Oh hair, smair, between horses, dogs, and cats, I have to vacuum everyday anyway.
As my girlfriend says, "dog hair is just a condiment". |

| I lived with and loved four GSD. I never thought about the shedding either. My two german bred ones didn't shed much really. My first one didn't either and my long haired girl did but not like my aussies so I think it is all relative. My shepherds were all inside dogs and btw my favorite breed. My uncle has one and he bring his big guy by when he visits, that dog sheds though, a lot but I don't know that he gets brushed much and I am not sure what food he is on. My sister has a rescue blk female, and she doesn't shed that much either but she is brushed twice a week. Of course you can't count the blowing coat season, but other than that, I think it depends. It also depends on where you live and the weather I believe. Now I have a rough collie...he is a puppy and you may hear me complain when he blows coat this spring after his 1st birthday, right now I brush him every other day (mostly for training) and as of yet he only shed out a bit of puppy coat. I LOVE the feel of his adult coat, it is soft and nice to touch. Shepherds, not so much. LOL. Still, in my opinion, a good shepherd is worth his/her weight in gold. |

| I have a border collie mix who sheds like its his job. I vacuum daily and still have hair tumbleweeds blowing across my living room. I'm convinced what ever he's mixed with was some kind of hairless breed and that part of him is constantly trying to get rid of his border collie coat :-| so when I got Hades the Doberman I was amazed to be able to brush him once a week and he's good.
I should have stock in lint brushes Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App
