| My First Attempt of... Crocheting an animal sweater! I think I did well for a first timer! I used no patterns, just my knowledge of crochet. I plan to make a reindeer outfit for him for christmas (A hoodie with the head of a reindeer including antlers)

| Thats adorable!! Do ferrets feel the cold, or is it more for aesthetic reasons? |

| | Alpha | Oh that's so cute.
I found this whilst out walking today. Do you think it's a ferret. There must have been poachers the previous nights because the hills were full of dead half eaten rabbits.
Which didn't make my group walk of 7 dogs easy !!!
Luckily they all left this wee guy alone. Attachment 19615
Bet he could do with one of your sweaters. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

Bet he could do with one of your sweaters. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App | It could well be, though most folk who use them have harnesses on them, so they can pull them out of the rabbit holes if the waving of a female at the entrance to the hole doesnt work and they certainly don't leave the rabbits that their ferrets have run out of the holes. Predominantly they are used for scaring the rabbits not killing. The way they do it is to set up nets over the exits, send in a ferret and let it chase out the occupants and hey presto you have rabbit for tea.
It could also be a Pine Martin, (albino) but as the photo is a bit blurry I wouldnt like to bet the farm on it (lol!).
You are lucky the dogs didnt have a go, if my Terrier had gotten scent of it, it would have been toast and nothing I could have said or done would have stopped him having a fight with it.
As for the sweater wearing Ferret, yep that is a definite EPAD look, personally I am in awe of anyone who can actually dress a ferret in a jumper, you are one brave soul, either that or you have some stout ferret handling gloves.
Nice job, you may have found a niche, I don't think there will be many who can turn their hand to crocheting a jumper for a ferret. It fits him perfectly.

| Omg too cute!! I love it!! <3
I crocheted a sweater for my adrenal girl Wheezie years ago, but it did not look nearly so nice. Quote:

Luckily they all left this wee guy alone. | Pretty blurry but looks like could definitely be a ferret to me. Did you catch him? I realize ferrets in the UK are a lot less watered down than here in the US, but still, even a hunter's ferret is not well prepared to survive on his own in the wild. He looks like an albino too (in ferrets, albinos were intentionally bred in order to make retrieving them in the field easier, so they are quite common).

Noodles, Bandi and Wheezie preferred to snuggle down in their fleece hammocks and sleep in when it was chilly.
Of course, Bandi and Wheezie both turned out to be adrenal, and I'm watching Noodles closely as I'm worried about the same. :/ Quote:

She said they were poachers though, maybe they got spooked and left them?
Can't speak for the ferrets that are used for ferreting (again, ferrets in the us are bred to be smaller and for cuteness rather than work), but I've had several that could slip a harness in no time flat.

He was pure white with red eyes.
( just googled and he's definitely a ferret )
Yep I came across at least 15 dead dismembered rabbits. Willow caught a baby and brought it to me holding it by the scruff of the neck. She didn't harm it and just dropped it at my feet. Again I had to leave it incase the dogs got over interested. Very very strange walk.
Going to give them hills a miss for a while.

| Bummer! (Though I certainly can't fault you for not picking up a strange animal!) Hope someone comes back for him, poor guy. Keep an eye open for him, wouldja?

In fact, I heard a domestic cat has a higher chance of surviving.
Leliel: The sweater was very simple. Just crochet and double crochet were used... I think some slip stitches too. I just did it as it was coming along.

| Last time I looked Ferrets were not cheap to buy in the UK. So hopefully his owners will go back to where he was lost with his girlfriend and find him very soon.
When I did vermin control in the UK I once lost a Ferret down a hole, I returned for over a week to the place he disappeared, I eventually found him, a whole lot slimmer and very unhappy looking.
I didnt use him to hunt again, once they forget to come out of the hole they tend to do it again and again, it really isn't worth the hassle. But boy did he father some nice kits. |
