I hope you all will note I'm not usually a whiner, well, at least in public

But, yeah, I'm feeling bad for the no-go status on AW Hound Dogger, even though trying to stay optimistic.

One of my beloved bunnies died yesterday, medication reaction. Don't feel up to talking about her yet--she was super special.

Tonight coming home from work, my car broke down on a busy and dangerous section of freeway.

I have promised to transport the black Doberboy from the shelter, in the next day or two, soon as details are worked out--um, I have no working car.

Uggghhhhgrrrrrrscreeeeeeeeeeee.

*pronounced like it's spelled, and yes I just made that sound.

I don't know why it took so long, it just occurred to me that I might Internet know somebody. Though she's going to have surgery on Monday. Hmm. Let me drop that email.

Hey RFR... I don't know you personally but I'd like to say you're awesome and sometimes the weight of the world weighs heavily on your shoulders. You wear it well, though. Keep up the awesome work and I'm horribly sorry about your bunny. I've never been able to have one since my heart bunny died when I was a child. I still have his photograph that I put on my fridge every single house I've moved to since I was 9. I feel your pain. *hugs*

Yeah, my contact is in fact going into surgery tomorrow

She did suggest contacting Demelza Walsh at the Colorado Coonhound Rescue, suggesting that they might have some ideas.

RFR, so sorry to hear about your bunny. That just sucks....

Hope the coonhound boy gets placed. He is awfully sweet looking!

I have 15 animals to care for (okay, the 6 ducks don't really count) , a crippled up husband on crutches (ankle surgery Thanksgiving week) or I'd try to get somewhere near you to transport somebody somewhere!

No problem...I was just happy to have come to the "duh" realization that wait a minute, I knew somebody! (at least in an online capacity). Maybe in the future, my synapses will be a bit more speedy.

Gentle Jakes is full as well. He has been "shared" 16 times on facebook. Gentle Jakes suggested contacting the hound rescues listed on coonhound companions.

Thank you. I miss her a lot.

There's a huge personality and presence gone from our family here. Been a sad time lately.

I would like a "win" for the hound boy, more than ever.

He has stayed a few nights here and there with me, and been fine with my cats (but not around the bunnies, hells no).

His other foster person does not like the way he eyes her cats, though, and feels as he comes out of his shell more he may chase them.

So, erm, I dunno, I guess. I feel fine with him and cats, personally, but he may just be playing me

Some of those I recognize immediately as having already tried--the others I will have to go back thru my sent mail and check.

Does that humane society perform good adoption screenings?

I mean, heck, I think DT people could get about any kind of transport done, for the right home.

It's hard to say since your definition of good screenings may be more intensive than mine with all your rescue experience. I do think so though yes. I think they have their application listed on the website. When we got a gerbil there once we still had to do all 4 or so pages of it. They have a fantastic wildlife rehab center and its honestly the only shelter organization I refer anyone in the area too. I know they will not make any deals or etc. To people who try and say things like "oh no its ok he doesn't like cats mine are dog savvy" and other dumb stuff.
You could always call them as well, give them a phone interrogation

Oh! And just as a side note, I've always alerted mwcr when a collie comes in and they have talked with them before and unless they have trouble placing the dog, rare, its a shelter they have faith in to place the dog correctly and not need their assistance.

Huge update on Acorn:

He is now neutered.

He is HW negative (yippee!).

He is tick-borne-stuff negative.

He is adopted!

My vet's staff fell so in love with him (toldja he was special) that one of the techs and her husband adopted him. They are hound-experienced, have other hounds, have a ton of acreage, will be able to provide him plenty of exercise safely, and they love him already. He also now has three older kiddos to fool with him and keep him occupied and keep his long ears all rubbed up good

Thanks again, to everyone who helped network him.

(And yes, I cried when I said goodbye--he's been staying with me, and he will leave another sad spot, even though I'm very happy for him.)

I was told to say a "little pink fairy" paid for his neuter.

Speaking of, turns out he was cryptorchid, and vet had to fish around a lot for that stray ball, waaaaay up in his abdomen, so thank goodness we got it out of there. His incision is quite impressive--he's cracked from stem to sternum, poor fella, was in surgery for about two and a half hours.

He also had a cracked molar that had to be extracted, an umbilical hernia that was repaired, and just generally was a much more complicated doggie than we had anticipated.
