Macy is a one year old Border Collie/Papillon cross. She was turned into a local shelter with several littermates, probably the result of what some around here call "flyball litters". Since doing some research, it seems that some flyball folks are breeding certain crosses to get smaller, faster, more agile dogs to run. The worst thing is that some of the breeders just "throw away" any of the puppies they don't plan to keep and run.

She was adopted by my friend right after she came into the shelter at 4 months of age but was just way too much dog for them. Macy is unbelievably smart and learns new things with incredible speed. She loves to train and can focus in the midst of huge distractions - have never seen anything like it. I'm thrilled to have her and she has really lifted our hearts with her joyful silly antics. Bella has stopped moping around and lying on Zen's grave. She and Macy now play for extended periods - this developed AFTER the first few days of Bella being quite serious and laying down the house rules in no uncertain terms! Macy weighs about 26 pounds, is fast as lightning, extremely coordinated and athletic, and apparently bomb-proof in any situation. I've had her out and about every day since she got here. I just can't say enough about how lucky we are to have her - she's a one-in-a-million girl! Hope you enjoy the photos.

She's adorable! Glad to hear she's helping get bella out of her funk.

Very pappillon looking, we have an aussie/border collie mix at work for daycare, likely the result of a similar style breeding....these combos are definitely a lot! of smart running energy!

Honestly, some days, just barely hanging in there. Still can't talk about it or see a picture or his collar without total breakdown. It helps a lot to read your kinds words.

Yes, Macy is right on par with Bella's drive. She and Bella grow in their relationship daily with lots of play and chase. I'm so happy for Bella and for us that Macy came into our lives.

invents her own games anytime everyone else is too busy to play

learned to perfectly fetch after 2 throws and clicks of the clicker (NOT LYING!)

freaks me out with her instant learning because I have to have a serious plan when I get out the clicker and treats - she advances like a rocket

can focus with high level distraction

LOVES to learn new things

Energizer Bunny x 3

can settle if asked (learned that in one session)

highly motivated by tug as well as treats (oh yeah, boring I know, but learned tug rules in one session)

sticks to me like glue most of the time, comes flying when called, even outside (yeah, I do keep a pocket of treats and reward every single recall right now)

has some crazy beautiful movements - Grand Prix Dressage horse x flying squirrel

can do a somersault (must capture that!) which she invented one day on the bed when I was ignoring her

wants to please her humans so much

"talks" with her barks

gives kisses

worships Bella

an independent thinker +++

apparently bombproof - amazing how calmly she takes new experiences, loud sounds, unknown people, etc.

So, yeah, that's just a little bit about complex and wildly wonderful Miss Macy.

Wow! She sounds amazing - and she is absolutely a stunner, too. I love that flashy coat and that cute face - but then, I love border collies, I just know I wouldn't be able to keep up with one
