You know? I usually try to live in harmony with the wild things, but now I am going to run over every snake I can with my lawnmower first and ask questions later.
Thank you Johnny!
Will keep you updated.
Trying not to pester the hospital right now, even though they said feel free to call and check on her at anytime.
We've been home for an hour now and no news is good news, right?
And, then she's got one day to recover from her hospitalization and was given permission to take a road trip. If she is not doing remarkably well by the time the suitcases are packed, she and I will stay home. That is the way I wanted it anyway!
Princess Lily Belle is home! Not feeling well, but home!
Now she is under the bed because there is a thunderstorm rolling through. I bought her a new bed, but the storm won!
My little baby!
She was sent home with 3 different meds and Alan and I are trying to figure out who is going to be home to force a pill down her throat and at what time.
Thank you all for checking on us! Much appreciated!
If we only knew where they were! I have seen my first snake on this property in three years last week while mowing. That snake didn't scare me. He/she was non-venomous. Plus I was on my riding mower!
Do you all know how much one vial of anti-venom costs??? I told Alan he could start a snake farm! He said, "You realize how many snakes I will need?" I said, "I don't care, as long as I don't see one of them!"
Argh! Burning 2 precious vacation days yesterday and today!
We are leaving town tomorrow and Alan called the ER vet yesterday and I called today, asking if her still dangling bit leg is normal and is it okay for her to go with us? It's a road trip to Alan's hometown and we will be staying in a motel. They told me I should bring her in for a recheck at the cost of another $50 dollars! I am so ticked at the ER vet! $1600 wasn't enough???
P.S. Her leg has slightly reduced in swelling, but she won't put any weight on it. She hops everywhere, but her spirits seem better. She decided to spend the entire night outside last night and I got her to eat some wet food.
Anyone with snakebite experience have any insight on if this is normal on day 3?
I will take her to the ER vet and pay them their money, but I am still pissed off!
Denny, the only ones to be pissed off at are Lily and yourself. My guess is that they don't even heavily mark up the Antivenin. It is uber expensive. Thank goodness that they had it available!
Kisses to your girl
STJ
See if they will give you a payment plan. Our 24 hr. emergency animal hospital requires a huge deposit up front.
Her bill has already been paid! Her bill will always be paid. She wasn't going to get any relief until I coughed up the $1600. My lender, for the house, is going to scold me!
I put in an offer on a house tonight and I've got till the end of June to get it right!
:x
P.S. Believe me! I know how expensive the stuff is! That didn't even include the gas we burned breaking the sound barrier to get her to two vets!
There are probably even more of them dang snakes near the house that I put an offer on! But, it is a lovely, well kept, property. And Lily's yard is AWESOME!
It's 5 acres! Of course, Lil doesn't get to see the entire property without being leashed.
She's an awesome rider. Just says, "Heck, I am going to sleep".
It's the motel rooms that will get her in trouble. She puff barks at people when they walk by. Did that make any sense? I don't know what it's called. LOL
Motel rules were, dog could not be left unattended in the room.
I never had this problem with Axel. I could always sneak him in. He would hang out on the bed and watch TV while we were gone. Never heard a peep out of him. He would slowly ramble out of bed and wait at the door, yawning, until we put the leash on him to go potty, after we returned.
That being said, I burned even more gas, regarding Lily, letting the truck run while we were catching a quick bite and visiting friends.
I am second guessing my hope of purchasing a home, and taking a second look at a toy hauler. My weekend would have been much more pleasant. :wink2:
