The great debate.... PAL or Canine Partners?

Well, if a certain someone doesn't come into season beforehand, she's getting spayed* next month. Once that's done, I'll be sending in her AKC paperwork, which is where the debate comes in.... Send in a PAL application as an American Staffordshire Terrier and run the risk of having it denied because she looks more like an ADBA pittie than she does a UKC pittie/AKC Am Staff, and have to spend another $35 to do a Canine Partners Listing? Or just send in a Canine Partners Listing application, and not worry about having the PAL denied?

*She will be having a traditional full spay. I considered an OSS, but decided a full spay is a better option for us. She's two, and had a couple of seasons, so she's probably gotten all the hormonal benefits she's going to get. Plus, with my family situation, a cycling bitch could be problematic.

I guessmit depends on if the PAL is worth it to you. Really one is as good as the other when it comes to being able to perform in events (right?) so it all depends on what is important to *you.* I guess $35 isn't much in the grand scheme of things if you want her PALed (and I think she would get approved, since I have seen some, erm, questionable PAL Dobies that make me think Lily would pass with flying colors as whatever bully breed you wanted to call her).

i ended up not registering gadget because i couldn't decide. gadget is more AmStaff than Lily is tho, but the fact is I don't know that I will ever do obedience with him so I'm not sure it matters.

guess I'm not much help :)

Yes, Gadget is much more bully than she. If I were to go UKC with him, I'd list him as an American Bully, and not an APBT.

Even if we never wind up doing obedience or rally, I'd still like to try some CATs, and AKC events tend to be closer to me than UKC events (3 hours of driving versus 5 hours of driving). It's kind of a "six of one, half a dozen of another" situation, really. With Leo, it was easy, since she was obviously a (poorly bred) GSD.

Well, I compromised... She is listed with the Canine Partners Program as an American Staffordshire Terrier.

If they are handing out numbers sequentially, there have been a LOT Canine Partners Listings between her and Ilka. Ilka's number is MA02203501, and Lily's is MA44592701.
