Butterfly pics

I wanted to share some of my pics with all the bug people. I have too many to try to post in a thread so, I am putting a link to my photobucket album if anyone wants to view them. There are some dragonflies in there to.

Those are really beautiful!

Especially enjoyed the Monarchs. We are looking forward to their arrival here locally (Pacific Grove, on the Monterey Peninsula), where every year over 250,000 come to "overwinter". Pacific Grove is nicknamed "Butterfly Town, U.S.A." They town even has an ordinance prohibiting "molestation of butterflies." The fine is $1,000.

Where are you located that you have photos of so many diverse ones?

Thanks heartbroken, you are so lucky to live somewhere that is visited by so many monarchs!

All of those pictures are from last summer when I lived in Virginia. My neighbors must have thought I was nuts always standing out in the yard waiting for a butterfly or dragonfly to land. I've since moved to North Carolina and I've only seen 1 Swallowtail so far.

If anyone else has any butterfly photos I'd love to see them. Feel free to add them in the thread!

Those are good pictures. I can see you neighbors talking about you over coffee. You probably provided hours of entertainment for them.
It looks like you had a great flower variety to attract the butterflies. Maybe you can get a good flower garder going where you are now. Thanks for all the pictures.

LOL (the part about neighbors over coffee)!

DP807 - your patience and perseverance pays off! They (butterflies) are so seasonal, and certainly tied in to flowers, as Linda H says.

Here are some just for you (from my "favorites" file, can't recall who sent them to me, otherwise I would credit). These are "transparent wing" butterflies.

Oh, heartbroken, those are gorgeous!! I certainly don't see anything like that in my neck of the woods. I love seeing pics from everywhere because the varieties of butterflies are amazing! Thanks for sharing those.

You guys are probably right about my neighbors. Ha, glad if I could provide them with some good conversations! Sometimes it requires standing still for quite some time to get the right shot.

Linda, my flowers aren't as great this season. I had a late start with the move in May. I tend to only plant things that attract bees, birds, and or butterflies. Keeps things interesting!

Great photos! Butterflies are so beautiful. The praying mantis is cool too - I used to play with them when I was a kid.

heartbroken, I've never seen those transparent winged butterflies before - so cool!
