| About Vizslas Has anyone owned one of these beautiful dogs? I have admired for a while and I am thinking about rescuing one, but I need to know more about their personalities. Do they try to escape a fence or are they happy inside a fenced area and knowing the boundaries?
What about their health?
Please only people who have known or owned one of these respond. |

Please only people who have known or owned one of these respond. | My fiance's brother owns one. He is around the same age as Indy (3) and they are best buds. He's a nice dog, seems to be good around children, but gets into EVERYTHING! Also, he likes to chase things (I'm sure the hunting dog in him). As for health problems, they did have a growth removed recently that turned out to be cancerous. And he has been exhibiting some strange fear behaviors lately. Other than that though, nice dog (of course, not as nice as my Indy...hehe).

| There are three that go to one of the parks I run Petey at. Each lives with a different family, and all adore their dogs. They are really well behaved dogs. All three are great with other dogs and children too. I think they need a bit of exercise, but having a Doberboy ought to help with that department!
Good luck!

ox | About the exercise, I sort of thought Parker might help out in that department.
I have located a vizsla and weimaraner rescue I said I would take either or a weim/dobe cross
Would you ask those people about their health, if they know... |

We seriously considered a Vizsla before we decided on Dobe!
I know someone with a Vizla and it is the sweetest thing. Very velcro and playful.
btw, A good friend of mine has a Weim/Dobe mix and he is a beautiful dog..

| They need lots and lots and lots of exercise. When I go to the dog park in the rain, the only other people there all have Vizslas!!

| We have a couple of breeders that bring their vizlas into our clinic. I love them! They are usually well behaved....a little sensitive..but nothing major. So devoted to their owners. The breeders tell me they like a lot of exercise but if you meet their needs they are not at all hyper in the house. Over the years we have seen one breeders dogs live to a nice ripe old age. I think they are one of the few breeds left that don't have a lot of major issues. Google the Vizla Club of America for more on health.

| | Alpha | Epilepsy is an issue in Vizsla's - research is currently underway at the UofMN to attempt to develop a genetic test.
Most I have met have been friendly, but high energy dogs and they often remind me of mountain goats as they always seem to be in the chairs or on the benches in the exam rooms Health Information for the Vizsla |
