 | Police K9 dies in line of duty
A Tempe Police K9 died on Monday evening, 7/1, from injuries received after falling 40 feet in a construction site during a search for copper scavenger thieves. The dog's name was Baloo (a GSD) and he was five years old.
Tempe is a suburb of Phoenix.
The newspaper article I read that reported this tragedy made no mention that the bad guys were caught. (Arizona Republic) Arizona Local News - Phoenix Arizona News - azcentral.com
It is so very sad to lose these working dogs. They contribute so very much to the communities in which they serve as well as being ambassadors of the capabilities of working dogs.

| Poor thing. If only people would be willing to work, make an honest living, and then they wouldn't have to steal!!! And then cops and K9s wouldn't have to get hurt/killed going after their dumb a***s!!!

 | May he rest in peace. I feel so very sorry for his family and for the Tempe police department who state he will be very hard to replace. I'm glad the suspects were apprehended. I wonder if the death of this K9 officer will be included in the burglary charges for these suspects. | |

Ohhh poor dog, being a gsd lover as well its really hard to read about this.
RIP Baloo.
