| Came home with a doberman....
Hi, I'm new to dobermans and this forum. I live in Maryland, but apent Christmas with family in TX. While there I went to a shelter to look for a dog for my son. Can't explain it, but I fell head overheels for this doberman and ended up bringing herback to Maryland. She traveled like a pro even though she was wedged between my two teenage sons in the back of our Prius. She is about a year old, very much still a pup. I'm glad to have found this forum. |

| Tx for the welcoming messages.
Thanks to everyone for your kind welcome. My new friend has been named "Willow." We live down in Southern Maryland. I managed to get a pic of her (taken at the shelter where I found her) posted on the gallery..will have to figure out how to attach to posts.
Willow is adjusting well..has learned her name, "come," heel, and sit. She is working hard on learning the difference between her toys and all other yummy things like shoes, tissues, etc. She has made friends with my other two dogs and they mostly tolerate her exhuberance. She has not been well socialized so I take her with me everywhere I can...we are making progress but she is still terrified of strangers...our Super Bowl party overwhelmed her and she hid behind my chair most of the night.
I cannot really explain my profound attachment to her.....but she really has a hold on me. | |

| Your story sounds similar to mine (only I don't have kids lol). I went to a shelter looking for a dog to rescue, assuming I'd get a pitt mix or something, and came home with my pretty doberbutt!! This forum has really helped me, as I have found Dobermans are a breed all their own! Congrats and welcome!! Just one thing though....... picturesss!!!!! | |

| Welcome from Kentucky! She is very pretty. Is she blue? I could not tell from the picture. My Mac would not enlarge the pic. Dobermans are called velcro dogs because they bond so well to their owners following them around not truly happy unless they have their little pointy snouts stuck into everything you are doing. My girl weighs about 70 pounds and regularly sits in my lap. lol. Sounds like you and your family will do great with her. Best of Luck. | |
