| New here!! Hi all! Im Ty and yesterday I became mom to a 6 1/2 wk old Doberman.
Yes I DID get him from a BYB...not what I would usually do but I had to get him out of there! He was living outside in the freezing cold on a rough concrete slab and he already has calluses on his elbows as well as a flea allergy :-( please don't bash me for "where" I got him please just be glad I got him out if there.
Anyway he is a doll I'm crazy about him already :-) Anyone have
any name suggestions? So far we have come up with
Titan
Tango
Axel
Sniper , Hitman (we are a big fan of the Hitman video games lol)
Bones
Anyway :-) glad to be here! |

| First, welcome to the forums.
Well it's good that all is well in this puppy's world what of his littermates and the dam and sire?
I understand feeling the need to purchase the puppy but purchasing him means giving your money in support of this person putting future puppies in the same conditions.

| Welcome to the forum. 6.5 weeks is way too young so you will have to really work hard on socializing and bite inhibition.
And... what about the other puppies that were there? What about the next litter that will be born? Will you "save" them all?
Sorry, just had to. |

| He was the last one that's why he was thrown outside. The sire and dam both live in the house and appear to be very well taken care of. This was their first litter and it was an "accident " but good news is the sire has already been neutered and they gave me contact info for their vet and I have confirmed with the vet that they have pre-paid to have the mother spayed as soon as all the pups were gone.
Oh and the parents were registered as well but the pups were not they just wanted to get rid if them asap |

| | Alpha | Good that you rescued he puppy, but anyone capable of growing a six week old puppy outside in the cold infested with fleas doesn't deserve to be described as owners of two other dogs that are "very well taken care of", just saying. Why pre pay for spay and not just spay?
That being said, cute pictures..the other dog in the picture, is that one also ours? Male, female? I personally love the name Gideon! Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| Their vet couldn't do it until next week so he had them pay in advance and sign a contract. Unusual I know but if it gets her spayed im not complaining.
Yes that's our other dog Deuce 2 yr old male registered APBT.
Gideon reminds me of NCIS lol |

Gideon reminds me of NCIS lol | So now you also have two males?
Please start doing more research: between the unknown health and temperament history, leaving his litter to early, and the likely possibility of same sex aggression you have a lot on your plate....

| I've always had males Ive never owned a female dog and I've always owned pitbulls and Dobermans. Usually I take in male dogs (almost always "aggressive" breeds) and foster them and get them accustomed to living with other males...(when the shelter needs the help) I have also never had a puppy before so this IS new to me but my male is very accustomed to other males we actually had another APBT that was mine (Deuce is my bfs) and while we were house sitting for a friend someone stole him out of the fence when we let them.out into his yard to potty. We have searched for him for months and notified every vet shelter rescue etc and no luck :-(
Anyway I think we have decided on Tango for the pups name :-) |

| Sam1491 the was no litter left. He was the last puppy and he was outside in a pen alone separated from his mother. Personally I think he's definitely better off in my home then all alone like he has been for a week now (the man told me the last pup left a week ago he started getting rid of them at 4 aka so that pup was 5wks and he took the momma away from this one the same say) |

| AlyssaN A lady I know knows of him and saw that he had some posted online and gave me the # I called him and he said he had one pup left. My bf and I decided we'd just go look and then talk it over (we've been on a breeders waiting list for a while now) but when I saw him all alone and actually talked to the man there was no way I could leave him there. |

| I am a bit confused, in some of your original posts, you had led on saying that it was a bit spontaneous and wanted to go look at the dog/litter, and now you are saying that you called and wanted to go look, but had been on a waiting list.
Not many BYB's I have ever heard of have waiting lists AND treat their dogs that way. I just feel like your story is going from one end of the spectrum to the other. Everyone makes mistakes, and if you did buy from a BYB and have learned, it is not a big deal, just be ready for any health issues, socialization issues, etc, but don't feel the need to hide or justify your actions. |

| Welcome to DT.
It is such a catch 22- do you leave him in those conditions or do you get him out of there at the expense of supporting a byb. I can't judge your story, because my boy was an accident too, and I brought him home at about 7 weeks. However, he was living the dream life even before I got there- not outside wasting in the cold and the litter was for the most part completely pampered.
Though, if your pup was just an accident, why did they charge you?
What breeder's waiting list were you on originally?
