| First time Doberman owner. Hello, my name is Chris. Me and my GF just recently got a female doberman which we named Sydney. She is 4months old. Her favorite things to chew on are our underwear and socks, we can no longer be slobs LOL! She is a great dog, very smart, and a very fast learner. We just signed up for dog obedience classes
Her ears are not cropped(Yet?). I haven't read up on anything about cropping, so i don't even know if shes too old for cropping? We love her either way, so were not worried about that.
I hope to learn a lot from this forum. Thanks for being here. |

| What a cutie! Welcome
Good luck at classes and yes she is to old for her ears (7-12, 14 weeks at the latest in some areas is what's recommended) Good thing you like her as is and enjoy those soft floppy ears

| Congratulations...welcome to the dark side!!! LOL Your life will be forever changed
Two suggestions, get "The Power of Positive Dog Training" by Pat Miller and "Calming Signals" by Turid Rugaas. The first will help you to train and develop a strong bond with your girl and the second will help you understand what she is trying to tell you.
You do know the dangers of intestinal blockages don't you? There is a real risk of loosing your girl if she were to swallow a sock, pair of panties or anything along that line. Be very very careful! Just a word of advice in case you didn't. |
