| Chloe says hello! Hi all! We got our red female last week, but am just now getting around to creating an account after looking over different Doberman forums.
We got her given to us after a breeder could not get rid of her and needed her gone.
She had no serious health issues, but it was also very evident that she was not well taken care nor socialized (human, dogs, etc), the lady also discretely told us that she had flees, hit her head running from her dad trying to attack her and that she had 1 shot and they forget to give her the other one.
We have had her for 9 days now, and after a rough first few days, she has really come into her own! We have a male mastiff that she absolutely adores and have been bringing over family dogs for her to socialize with, along with friends and children.
Potty training was also a very rough start until a few days ago. We got some doggy diapers for when she is in her crate, so she is not sleeping in pee all night, etc, and just recently, she has stopped wetting herself and we have really minimized her accidents. She is also a very vocal and handsy puppy, which I have read is a sign of intelligence, but the vocal issue came in part with crate training her, which she is also doing a great job with!
This coming Monday, we are also taking her to get her ears cropped, which we are excited, but nervous about as well...
Here are a few recent pictures |

| Right now we getting her off the crap puppy food they had her on onto Candidae (sp) actually, in the research I have done, that seemed to be the best food locally that we could get.
Those ears will not be so big come next week |

| Who is doing your ear cropping? I'm sure more experienced people on here can give you a recomendation. They have some definite opinions as to who is a good croppeer, and who is not.

| Hi Chloe, your a pretty red head...thks for sharing photos.
My second dog was on Canidae for several years, and lived 11.7 years...the all life stages (ALS) gave her a nice/shiny coat...and solid stools.
- I never bought puppy food...and use organic certified treats (Organix Peanut butter flavor), not the MilkBone crap (deadstock meat source)
I wouldn't use doggy diapers to potty train...initialy I take pup outside, in the middle of the night (first month home).

| A friend of mine that breeds Boxers recommended us to go to Jezbera in riverside.
I also googled it and found a thread that was created here talking about him and two others. I saw some pics from the breeder and here as well and liked what I saw. We want to do a medium crop, especially since the upkeep is less than a show crop. |

| I have no problem with feeding Kirkland, though generally not the purple bag (though looking at the ingredients it is not bad). I use the blue Nature's Domain. With 3 dogs I go through a 30 lb bag in 7-10 days. |

| Thank you very much guys! The crop went good, although I do feel very guilty about it all I did not expect myself to feel that way, it hit me hard seeing her post surgery and the pain she seemed to be in before her pain pill.
I will post pictures later on. Also met 3 other Dobermans including one that looked just like her, same age, color, just smaller and more of the European physique, along with a lady who paid $2,000 for a "King" Doberman from a breeder down here in L.A.
Interesting visit for sure... |
