| | Big Pup | Howdy! And of course, how could I forget...
I present to you guys, Rocky... and his over-sized collar
I bought him a few days ago. Breeders had him in a Farm/Ranch with other animals, he was very scared and full of ticks :/ I thought to myself "I have to give this pup a new home". He's slowly breaking his fear for people and seems to be coming along well! He is not registered, but the breeders say he's Full Breed and his parents looked nice... either way, like I said, I was not leaving the poor pup behind! |

| Welcome from another Texan. I hope you stick around and learn...supporting bad breeders like that is very detrimental to the welfare of the breed. You might not have known better, but there is a world of difference between a BYB and one that breeds with health, longevity, temperament, and correct structure in mind. There are some very good breeders in Texas, as well as great rescue organizations for Dobermans. We can help you be prepared for next time around. It is unlikely that Rocky's breeder will offer you any support if anything goes wrong. Enjoy DT

| He is very cute he does look full blooded if you ever want to do obedience or agility you can sometimes take pictures send them to AKC and get a LP number to do activities with him. You just can not show in conformation but pretty sure you can do other things if you can after he gets his shots you might be able to take him to puppy kindergarten really helps with socialization and a start on how to walk on a leash, sit & down stuff like that. Good Luck & welcome to DT. |

| | ladyrougecayenne | New Member from Texas I'm new to the forum too. My girl is now 5 1/2 months and growing up so fast. I apparently didn't know any better when I purchased her either so she was a BYB too. No testing of health and not even the first shots. I bought her at 5 weeks old for $700. I know better for next time. She has been really awesome at training. Learned sit at 7 weeks, potty and crate trained. She knows down, up, bark on command, spin, leave it, and going to start training to jump through a hoopla hoop this weekend. Any suggestions on anything are appreciated. Thinking about breeding her on her second heat but I'm going to have her tested for the inherited diseases first. Located in crossroads Texas. Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

If you are interested in breeding please speak with a responsible breeder so you can get a taste of what their life is like surrounding a responsible breeding program. If you're breeding just for pets then you're just filling up shelters. If you have no idea what the genetic health background is of your girl's parents and their parents and so on, you have no idea what you're bringing into the gene pool and could very well set potential puppy owners for heartbreak. You can't OFA hips until 24 months by the way.
