| New Member in Dunsmuir, CA Hi all, I figured we'll be getting our very first Dobie pup in a few weeks so signing up here would be a great idea She's 5 weeks old and will be ready to come home with us January 20th. Still haven't decided on a name; but she's very curious and affectionate. Chocolate/rust (like her dad, an INSANELY gorgeous dark brown color) tail & dew claws done already, with natural ears. (I'll post a few pics from my phone) |

| Oh gosh no! They've been raised thus far strictly indoors, now they're allowed out in to the yard to run around during daytime and there's a doggie door in to the shed if they feel like resting away from the cold temperatures. They're all indoors at night (its mighty cold up here in Northern California). They are from Dark Knight Dobermans, a relatively new breeder in the Happy Valley area. The father was deeper brown than a typical red, almost like a dark chocolate color, and some of the pups appear to have the same coat color. I suppose its technically still a red though? |

| As far as names go... we really can't make up our minds. Our other dog is named Duke, he's an adult male GSD, so we thought about doing another "D" name. My sweetie and I are both firefighters so we're considering names of tools, equipment, major fires, etc. We also like historical figures, American or German (he comes from a German family). We aren't big fans of typical female dog names... Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| Well it is good that they bring them in at night, but I would ask them about health testing. This is a pretty unhealthy breed.
Check out this thread about evaluating breeders as well. It has some of the health tests in which to ask about. Reputable breeders - for new folks |

| One red flag I'd look at is the number of litters. It looks like they had 3 litters in the last six months from their facebook page. Raven was the dam to two of the litters at least.

| The first two were contract litters I'm told. This litter was an accident; Deuce got to Raven, and here we are. And thanks I'll take a look at that link Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

I only recognize one kennel name in the pedigree that's shown, and personally, it's not a kennel I care for. Also, Deuce is the result of a half-sibling breeding. That's kinda tight line breeding.

| Welcome from Florida! The DT members and all of the information available here was such a help while I was waiting to pick-up my boy last spring. Hang in there he'll be there in no time. Make sure you are stocked with bandaids, they are little landsharks. Bandaids were the one thing I didn't have enough of the first few weeks. |
