| | Lil Pup | Hello from Southern part of Midwest! Hello; I’m new to the forum just wanted to say Hi! I was interested in getting a companion and contacted a rescue I had become friends with; she had a mix that was German shepherd I had interest in. After talking with her and telling her what I was wanting, she said she had a rescue that would be a good match. I completed the application and received a Doberman 5 years old with the eyes that would melt any harden soul. She had been in the rescue for almost a year when she was rescued it was obvious she has had a very hard life, broken back, broken teeth (eating rocks / wires) trying to stay alive; multiple scaring all over her body. Being around German shepherds and Rotts, my thinking big dog I can handle that, because of having children around I requested proof that she was child friendly….. Well Temple is 28” tall, 41” long and a girth of 36”; so my questions! Is this normal size for a Dobie? I’m sure she could be mix, with no back ground info I have no clue. She is vocal, grunts, moans, patrols the yard every hour or so; when my grandson stays the night she will not leave his bedside. She plays fetch with just a select few. Is all this “normal” traits on a Doberman? |

| Welcome and thanks for rescuing!
We love pictures here!
She doesn't necessarily have to be a mix (just going off size) but she is definitely oversized. More thank likely if she isn't mixed her background and pedigree isn't great but what does matter is she is a wonderful fit for your family and finally gets the life she deserves standard is:
bitches 24-26" ideal 25.5"
dogs 26-28" ideal 27"

| | Lil Pup | Well I really don't care if she is mixed or full blood, I just happy she's in my life! I have a question... every night she sucks on her bedding, which I’ve never had a pet do anything like this. Maybe I should find a pacifier? I tell her to stop, she does, but she leaves the bedding in her mouth. mmmmm

| She's adorable.
I think if you use forum search, you'll find lots of sucking threads - she's not the only one that does it.

| | Lil Pup | Ok , so many issues have been addressed by reading some of the other post, thank you; I have to laugh that my rescue Temple is a sucky baby, shredder (has slowed down the longer I have her), complainer, whiner, biggest dog Drama Diva I've ever been around, greets with one of her babies in her mouth then does the run circles around you. When friends have stopped by and she starts in they ask, is she okay? WTH is she doing? LOL |
