Hello from San Antonio!

Hello! My name is Heather and I have an 11 month old girl named Storm. I've been looking through the forum for a while, and I figured it was time to formally introduce myself. Storm is currently in Schutzhund training. I am wanting to get involved in conformation and maybe agility (or anything else she could excel at lol).

Welcome from the Houston area!

Agree that we need pix of Storm!

You have a good local Doberman club that should be able to help with your conformation interest.

Welcome from Universal City!!

Yes - need pics!

Where are you doing your training? I'm currently working both of my Rescues with "Sit Means Sit". I plan to participate in Rally and Agility with my 12mo old girl, Cricket.

I'm really interesting in finding a nosework class in the area because I think my boy (3 yr old Perrin) would be a natural!!

Thanks everyone!

Dobehouse- I'm in UC too. We do our Schutzhund through the Alamo Working Dog Club. It's a great club! I was actually looking up nosework yesterday. There is a local group and it's $10 a session.

No I don't. I have had unpleasant experiences with dog owners (those who don't control their dogs) just walking mine around the neighborhoods! My 2 can be a bit dog aggressive when they are together - but were in foster care with 8 other Dobes before I got them so I know they get along with other Dobes fine. I think there is another Dobe owner in UC who takes their dog there when no one else is really around. I have a really big yard so my kids have plenty of space to run/play without running the risk of encounters with unobservant/irresponsible dog owners...

I have my girl in group obedience classes and she does pretty well with other dogs when her "brother" isn't around. I've only had them for a few months so we're still kinda figuring things out. We've been going to Comanche Lookout Park (off of Nacogdoches) for long walks.

Depends on when you go... I took *both* dogs last weekend - around 9am. There were a TON of people and most of them had dogs. It was crazy because Cricket decided to act the fool! She whined almost the entire walk. We cut things short because she was being so obnoxious...

Hi StormsMom!

I met your girl and your hubby today at the club meeting. She's a cutie and did really well at her bitework. I see how IPO can be addicting, and I hope my dobe and I can get more involved in it. If not the bitework, I think she'd at least like the nosework and OB side of things.

The members mentioned there's a nosework group in SA as well. Do you know the name of the group? I'm hoping to join and get lessons on tracking for first-timers.

ETA: I found the group and e-mailed them to observe a training session. If you're interested, the name of the club is Alamo Nose Hounds.

Your hubby also mentioned you were interested in lure coursing. I have some info about local events, and I'll actually be going to an event in March if you want to learn more about it. Let me know, and I can PM you the details.

Hope to see you out there next time!
