New boy coming home tomorrow - Doberman Forum : Doberman Breed Dog Forums

I used to post here awhile back during our search for a puppy, but havent posted in awhile so I thought I would reintroduce myself. We never did get a puppy, put it on the backburner due to many things including just not finding one, and one of our dogs got ill and passed away.

I recently started helping my Mother in her search for a small dog and we went to the animal shelter yesterday to look for something for her. We were looking around and lo and behold... There was a big red male doberman. I actually talked myself out of looking at him too much at first, but of course I couldnt resist. He was very serious acting while in his kennel, and I asked to take him into one of the rooms. The attendant who came to help said he had been brought in as a stray on the 9th and that no one had shown any interest in him whatsoever, and thought he scared people. In the room he turned out to be a big goofy baby. Poorly cropped tail, dewclaws intact, natural ears, and seems to be very young. Whoever had him before had taught him to sit, and he was very responsive and sweet. Total leaner and very playful. I called my husband and had him come down, and was so happy when he fell in love too. We adopted him, he is getting neutered tomorrow and will come home in the afternoon. We have to adult spayed boxers who are good with dogs, so all should go well I hope.

Oh my gosh he's a cutie! The picture looks like he's a pretty dark red - is that true or is that just the lighting? Anyways, congrats on the addition and I hope to see new pictures soon!

He is pretty dark, but that picture isnt the best. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get some better ones. All the rest I had turned out blurry. Its been 12 years since I had my last Dobe and I am just over the moon. I think we are going to name him Gunnar.
