| Hello from AZ Hey everyone from Phoenix Arizona here. Tracon is the new member of our house, at 3 months old, what a handful! His ears get cropped next week! Many questions about that, since I am leaning to the medium crop, but would like to see what everyone has to say about it. Thanks for everyone's help!

| Hello! Welcome to DT. Your boy is a doll! 12 weeks is on the later end of getting them cropped- that's not to say they won't stand though...Personally, I would leave him natural but of course that is your decision
Here's some great information on all things ear cropping from the DT educational archives: Ear Cropping and Posting
We also had a discussion about age to crop: http://www.dobermantalk.com/doberman...west-side.html

| Hi - from a former Phoenician! Now in So Cal. There is a great dobe club in the valley. Jabeepa is a member too (I still am )
Be careful where you get your pup cropped - better to leave nautral then a bad crop. Ear cropping is an art.

| Tracon~ bdizzle21 is also a member of the forum as well as the phx Doberman Pinscher club. He and his dobe Bear are into flyball and maybe another good resource for you in Maricopa county.

| Well its been a while since I have logged into the forum and Tracon is now 2 years old (birthday Sept 2, 2010). He has been a wonderful addition and the past 2 weeks have been hell!
Tracon started to get a lump on his right side right where his right leg meets his body. Off to the vet we went and he underwent some tests. Tracon had surgery last friday and is doing well but he was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma. The surgery went well and he has a huge incision on the right side of his body. We go back tuesday to the vet to get the stitches out, but today received the phone call telling me it was malignant. We discussed some options for Tracon and to say the least I have been a mess all day. Options include letting him heal up and watching the area where the sarcoma was. If it comes back going back in and taking it out again and doing radiation or going right into radiation in a few weeks, which is a very expensive option.
Here are some pics,
He has grown up to be a handsome little man!
Couple pics of the sarcoma prior to surgery after he went through some tests.
After the surgery;
Even with the cone of shame on his head he is full of personality. Right as this pic was snapped he ran up to me and barked at me and I am sure he was yelling at me for taking a pic with this on his head.

| Wow, I am so sorry for your diagnosis. 2 years old is quite young for such terrible news. It is never good to hear your dog has cancer, but is extra hard when he is still so young. |

| | Alpha | Wow! Let me start by saying that he is one handsome guy! Sorry you are going through this. That is a very serious incision. Was the excision complete in the results from the pathologist? It's never wrong to get a second opinion. I would recommend a consult with an oncologist. They can often help guide you. Keep us posted. |

Keep us posted. | The pathologist said all the margins were clean so that means they got it all out. We go to his vet on wednesday to get the stitches out so I will talk to her about everything.
He senses something is wrong and that I am upset he wont leave my side since yesterday to today. We have been on the couch and he keeps cuddling up.
He is a little fighter though, he doesn't even know he had surgery he has been his old self full of personality the past few days. He knows he will get a camping trip out of all of this soon because we are due for one and he loves those.

I know you are worried about him, but it is really important, for Tracon's spirit, to try to stay positive in light of all of the uncertainty. Have a good talk with your vet on Wednesday, and you will figure it out. In the meantime, cuddling on the couch with a big handsome doberman sounds pretty good to me. |

I have also spoken with my father, his father my grandfather bred Dobies in Poland. We are trying to come up with a game plan for him, on what is best.
It just sucks he is my first Doberman of my own in my own house and this is happening.
