Hi,guys.I have been looking into getting a Doberman but i want to do my research first. There is so much information out there and some of it is conflicting.Hopefully the doberman is the breed for me but if you guys dont think so i will start researching another breed.

Im a little bit confused about some of the information i have found online concerning Euro vs American dobermans (i live in Central Ontario) and from what I have read i actually think a American doberman would suit me better(according to some websites i have been on the American doberman is slightly smaller, thinner and more laid back. Now I have briefly looked at doberman breeders near my location (not to far away from Orillia) and they are CKC dobermans from euro lines. What does this all mean.

Im a reasonably active guy but im not a jogger or cross country walker so a dog who is ok with a medium amount of walks( 1/2 hours- 1 hours walk during the week plus play time and more on the weekends)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to DT. I would get in contact with a local doberman club to see who's planning a litter or who you could be referred to. If you go on the dpcc website there's a breeder list that is a good jumping off point as well https://dpcc.ca/breeder-directory/
Be sure to find a breeder doing full health testing, titling, and sticking to the dpcc/dpca code of ethics.

Hello and welcome to the forums! You have come to the right place for all of your questions :). First off CKC is not a reputable registry, pretty much any dog can be registered in it and anyone can say anything about the history of the dogs genetics. I'd stay far away and not give any credence to CKC dogs, it's a paycheck registry and a cheap way for people to command a high price for their mutts.
