Raye89 here; I am 19 years old (as of Aug 6th) and I live in Michigan. My Doberman's name is Lyla and she is a 3 month old (as of this Friday) black and tan. I've always wanted a Doberman ever since I saw one in a manga I read. Lyla is my first Doberman but not my first dog. My first dog I ever had was a chihuahua; that was when I was a baby. My next dog was a Chow Chow which we had to get rid of when I was... 5 maybe. After the Chow we got a Rottweiler and Chow Chow mix which I had until I was 14; he passed away from cancer. While we had Buddy (the Rot/Chow) we got Rodney who is a Silky Terrier; he's 14 years old, and now I have Lyla.

Lyla is the first dog that I've really had as my own and she is the first that I've really had to train. I am a student at Washtenaw Community College but I've decided to take a year off to take care and train Lyla. I'm going to college for Physical Therapy Assistance.

Hi Raye, and welcome from San Diego. What a commited Dobermom you are, to take a year off school to "school" your Dobe. But, as a rehab RN who worked with therapists and their therapy dogs, I think you may be on to something. Do lots of obedience, (teach her a few cute tricks), get her CGC cert, and work towards a therapy cert, and you and your dog can be a therapy team! Way to go!! don't forget to post some photos! lois
