| New From Texas I'm a 21 year old college student looking for my first Dobe after graduation (in December). I have been researching and reading as much as I could about this breed for four years. While I have made my own opinions about what I have learned, I would greatly appreciate any knowledge that those of you who have been involved in the breed for years have to volunteer! |

| Hi and welcome to the DT Forum, a great spot to continue your research and find out more about what to expect from your Dobe and even more importantly, what he/she will expect from you! Every one of them is different in personality but the similarities in their needs are pretty much the same across the board. Excercise, attention, healthy food, lots of training and mental stimulation and access to the bathroom with you:-) Be prepared for hard work and even harder lovin'. They really are the *best* pals.

| This will not be my first dog, but it will be my first Dobe. We currently have a 14 year old Golden Retriever who lives with my parents, and I have a three year old papillon, both are female and very easy to get along with. My papillon has always been a bit of a velcro dog, so I am more than fine with my dogs wanting to be with me all the time (i prefer it!).
I evented in high school and a little bit in college. All low level stuff. I plan on getting into it again when I graduate, and I want a biger dog that can go to the barn with me. My pap loves it out there, but when I cant watch her like a hawk (when I'm riding) she has to get locked in the tack room. It is too easy for her to get under the horses, and I would never forgive myself if she got hurt because of my oversight. |

| Welcome!
Papillions are one of my fave small breeds. You got good taste in dogs!
What kind of horses do you ride?
(former dressage person here, NOT a DQ, though!)

| Hi from the UK!
We have had our dobiegirl for 6 months now and don't regret one minute of having her. Not too much advice to give here, but when looking we used youtube to watch doberman puppy vids - that made our mind up for us. I would definately recommend using this site as much as possible, it has really helped us out!
Good luck and see you around! |
