Back from evaluation

We had Iggy's evaluation yesterday, and it wasn't good news. She said that there's something abnormal about him and he is dangerous. She said that even with a year of training and medication, he'd probably just be slightly less dangerous, and that's the best case scenario. We've decided to have him put to sleep, it's just not worth the risk.

Oh Jen tha'ts terrible news! I'm so sorry your family has had to go through this horrible ordeal. Are you comfortable with her reasoning and evaluation?

So sad for Iggy.

Yes, I was. She explained why she came to her conclusion clearly and it made sense to me. In some ways it was kind of a relief to finally know for sure that there's something wrong with him, but I was still really disappointed that he's not really fixable.

So sorry this happened. U gave it ur all. I am gonna guess that the owners before him must have really messed the poor guy up. At least u gave him a home and tried to help. Instead of him going back and forth with others. U are doing what is best for him.

Awwwww - your heart must be breaking, I'm soooooo sorry....I feel for you. No doubt it was not an easy decision for you to make....even after obtaining a professional opinion. I know living with a potentially dangerous dog, no matter how much you love him.... is not an easy task - hearing a professional confirm your "uneducated" opinion is even more devastating, because that glimmer of hope tends to fade

I don't know if I'm just selfish and/or foolish...or just plain stubborn...everyday I wonder if I am I doing what is best for her or what is best for me by continueing to work with her and her issues.....It's a personal decision either way and IMO neither is easier then the other to make

I'm so sorry. This is such a sad situation and a difficult decision for you.

Since you got him from a rescue, do they not have an agreement that you should return him to them if you can not keep him? Sadly, he has already bitten someone... I'm really surprised the rescue didn't see his behavior before adopting him out.

Unfortunately, there are some dogs who are products of bad breeding and there is no other alternative. Again, I'm so sorry you have to make this decision.
