| | Alpha | No is not working Well.... sigh.. we all now how these silly pups can be. Well my guy has been doing this for a while and I can't seem to correct him in a way that understands. When we play or rough house and I say its time to quite. I say 'enough' and it used to work. He'd stop jumping around and calm himself to going to chew a toy, well now, he keeps wanting to play and when I point and say a firm 'NO!' He tries to nip my finger and then goes hauling butt through the house, lol. I know hes just being silly, and I try not to laugh even though its so funny, Can anyone give me a little help on making my No mean it, LOL. The only way I can get him to chill out after trying the no that doesn't work it to hold him by the scruff of the neck for about 5 seconds as I say 'Thats enough' Thanks DT! |

| Water spray bottle - set to stun, lol - its magicall. No pain, just startles them and they generally hate it.
Coupled with the word NO or ENOUGH, it works great. |

Coupled with the word NO or ENOUGH, it works great. | If you are letting him off lead in the house (mine are on lead all the time when outside their crate until they are at least 7 months old), then I agree with avalonadon's recommendation. Key is getting their attention and being able to control them.
The on-lead allows me to crate them easily for a time-out if they misbehave.

| do an "I gotcha".... get in a one-knee kneel beside the pup, and grab hold with both arms in a hug and pull him close and hold him till he calms. Be ready for a struggle Dobes are a great workout for the owners!! |

Be ready for a struggle Dobes are a great workout for the owners!! | That may work like I said when my no doesn't work, I hold him by the scruff of the neck and say no, that often will do it, but I feel like now I'm going to re teach him 'No' |

it works great! its like a submission hold - it establishes to the dog that the human is stronger and in control. Another one to use on puppies is the elevation dominance. You cradle the puppy with both hands under the rib cage and lift them up about six inches off the floor and leave then suspended until they calm down. It's another thing that you can do that they can't do |

| You don't have to teach him no, you just need to let him know that it still means what it has always meant. Slap that leash on while you play and give it a good stomp if he takes off. The big man in the sky has a way of punishing dogs who misbehave. If that doesn't work after a few repetitions, step on the lead and give him a time out in a crate.
