Marking in house (parent's dog)
Hey guys! Needing some advice for my parents' dog and I knew you guys could help. I have read a few threads about marking indoors but could not find anything with the exactly what I was looking for.
They have a male MinPin that is 11 yrs old. He has recently (like past few years) started making things in the house, particularly plastic bags, packages and chairs after visitors have left. A lot has been solved by not leaving things on the floor but you can't get rid of furniture! He does have a "doggie-door" but I feel that may be part of the problem; he can just run in and out and no longer separates the differences of outside and inside. To this point I think that this won't be an easy fix. I have suggest them try a belly band, with no dog door access (maybe even put a bag/box down to tempt him in peeing inside?). What do you guys think?!

With an older dog having any behavioral changes, I always like to rule medical things out first. I'd probably have a urinary analysis done. I do them annually once dogs turn 7 anyway. If it turns out to be behavioral and not medical, I'd try the belly band to at least keep things dry. It won't cure the marking.
