Metro Baltimore DPC -- WAE
Posted for the MBPDC
WAE is Working Aptitude Evaluation.
Any pure-bred Doberman over 18 months of age and is registered with AKC or has an ILP/PAL number is eligible to take the test.
We will accept “walk-ups” the morning of the test, but it’s better to pre register to insure a spot and have the required info to put on your form.
You can of course bring your AKC/ILP/PAL number with you.
This evaluation tests your Doberman’s reaction to a neutral and friendly stranger, its reaction to someone rattling a can, popping an umbrella, a gunshot, walking on a plastic and wire surface, and reaction to a weird stranger that crosses its path and turns and threatens you. The Doberman Pinscher Club of America awards a certificate to all who pass and you earn the title of WAC (working aptitude certified) to use after your dobe’s name. If your Dobe happens to be an AKC champion with a performance title, you then can use the very prestigious title of ROM (Register of Merit). This earns you a certificate and a bronze medallion.
The test is outside in a field, so you may want to bring a chair and dress for the conditions, including footwear to keep your feet dry.
Spectators are very welcome and encouraged to watch.
There is a rather large dog show being held inside in the large building down the road the same day which you may enjoy seeing after the test.
Hopefully we will have a sign to direct you where to turn into the grounds above where parking fees for the people that are doing the dog show are collected.
The Metropolitan Baltimore Doberman Pinscher Club (MBDPC) is holding a WAE November 24th, 2012 at the Howard County Fairgrounds. The Turkey Cluster will be going on over the weekend and we are hoping some of the Doberman's competing in Breed would take advantage of this opportunity to enter their dogs or just come and support the dogs that will be going through the test.
Where: Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Rd. West Friendship, MD
When: November 24, 2012
Evaluator: John Schoeneman
Cost: $30 per dog
Start time is 10:15
Registration starts at 9:30 if you haven’t pre-registered. Please bring your dog’s AKC/ILP/PAL information.
