Thanks again! | If you have a thyroid test done you will likely need to request that they run the full panel (you can mention MSU or Dodd's), as many times vets without Doberman specific knowledge / experience will just want to run a T4.

His mother was, according to Dr Dodds, probably hypothyroidal herself so all of her pups were, too.
[his is not genetic or auto-immune hypothyroidism, according to her]
Two of Odin's brothers from the same breeding done 2 years prior had already been put down due to "viciousness caused by brain tumors".
[seriously]
However, no necropsy was done on the dead boys nor were they ever taken alive to any vet to find out why they were "vicious".
I would bet every dime I had that they were low thyroid, too.
Odin got snappish/snarly around 14 months old and was at the vet the next day getting a full thyroid panel run, even though the vet said he was 'too young' for such things.
His test came back and his levels were practically non-existant.
He's now on .7mg Soloxine twice a day and doing great.
Please get him checked for thyroid *and* tick borne diseases ASAP.
Best wishes for you and your dog. |

| Check his thyroid ASAP! Ahren whom I bottle fed and has been with me 24/7 practically bit the mess out of me one day for scratching his neck (which he loves!) we loaded up and went to an emergency vet clinic, that's when we learned he had a tumor on his thyroid. We caught it early and it was treatable thankfully but I would definitely have it looked at- Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

Ear infections are very painful in people so one can imagine how excruciating it is for a dog with an ear infection and someone rubbing and messing with his ears. I cringe just thinking about it. |
