Water buffalo horns

Anybody give their dogs water buffalo horns as chews? Jack can't stomach anything but nylabones and then occasional bully stick (with softer stool after). He got diarrhea from an antler, apparently that can happen. Just wondering if anybody had any pros or cons of water buffalo horns. Thanks!

Personally, I'm leery of treats that come from somewhere other than the US, Canada, and parts of South America. Water buffalo horns generally come from places like India.

I don't give them - I've seen some splintering.

For chews, mine like Benebones more than Nylabones. They only get knucklebones (not femurs), occasionally a bully stick, Kongs stuffed with a variety of things and frozen.

I got a couple buffalo shin bones from the dollar tree, and they are surprisingly sturdy for a dollar. He drops them all the time on purpose trying to break them, it took quite some time to crack one and the other is holding up strong. I'm sorry I've never tried water buffalo, I have wanted to get the goat horns and try them though.

I only feed RAW knuckle bones. The kind you get at pet store are smoked, which have chance of splintering (not good). You can get raw bones from a butcher, or, you can often find a good source if you check with local people who raw feed, as they often have good suppliers.

Do any of you use carrots? The thicker they are the crunchier. It won't last long like a bone but it's got a lot of good stuff and crunching through them seems to be the fun part. Apollo will crunch some carrots and leave the bones lying there until every scrap is gone.

Jack used to love carrots! We use them to cook a lot and would just give him one to chew. Now, he takes it but leaves most of it in the front room. [emoji23]

I just gave them to mine. Limit the chew time to maybe 15 minutes or so the first time to see how his stomach handles it.
