LOL.... Iv'e never met a teething Dobe pup who didn't think that their favorite human should not also be his/her favorite chew toy.

Me... I sort of let it ride until its over and then just wait for scars to heal up!

Seriously though, there are plenty of folks here who have great success mitigating this obnoxious (painful) activity. I am sure some will chime in.

You can try to distract them using a toy that I ok to bite (during these times), but if they still try to bite, don't continue play or distract them with a treat after asking them to preform a trick for it (sitting, laying down, etc). For some dogs, trainings them to stop play biting can take weeks to months and it's something you just need to stay vigilant and patient about.
Normally the momma dog is responsible for teaching their puppies not to bite so hard, but since we take over the process of raising puppies after the appropriate age, it's up to us to teach them.

Their teeth sure are like needles, aren't they?!! Zuko loves to play, and we learned that distracting him with another toy works best. If he really got particularly rowdy and bit any harder than play bite, he got a firm NO and was pinned to the floor. It never hurt him, but let him know that it wasn't acceptable. Never had an issue after that.

I've had to do this recently with hubby's sister's new puppy, a small bichon mix, who is in his teething phase and will literally jump and snap his teeth onto fingers. This ended rather quickly when I got there, after a firm 'NO!' and pinning him down to the floor. He gave a little whine (I was not hurting him, only restraining him) and doesn't do it anymore. Hurray!
