Cool Dog house?

Hello everyone , i recently rescued a dobie and she stays outside during the day while we are at work , we got a dog house for her but she will no go in it, ive tried putting treats in the house and her blanket but she will just grab the treat and come right back out and lay outside her dog house on the ground rather than on her fluffy blanket, any suggestions?

HI.. pink is really hard to read.. sorry you might want to change to another colour !!
first.. why is she outside ??
can she not stay inside ??
if she must stay out. you might have to spend some time out there with her for a bit.. play there with her.. sit in the kennel if you can fit ??

but mainly why outside ??

Dobes don't make very good outdoor dogs their coats are not really designed for it and they really feel the cold. Is there anyway she could be crated indoors? If not then just do lots of training with her by and in her dog house. Maybe dont put a treat in the house but give her a treat everytime she goes near the house to start with then wait for her to put a paw inside before she gets the treat then 2 paws etc. Build her up gradually. Also being a rescue maybe it reminds her of a bad experience from a previous home?

I'm also concerned about a Dobe left outside unattended because of your liability should a neighborhood kid or even an intruder get into your yard while you're not there. She would only be doing her job if she protected your property but YOU (and very likely her also) would suffer the consequences in a court of law. That's the reality of it, unfortunately.

How long is she left for? We dont crate train Ellie but know a lot of people on here do and its very sucessful for their dobes. Think they can only be left for about 4-5 hours though so this may not be any good unless you come home from work at lunchtime to let her out. We are lucky with Ellie as the hallway in our house can be easily shut off so we leave her there when we are out as there are no wires or cables for her to hurt herself on. Maybe you could put her in your kitchen or somewhere safe if crate training isnt suitable?

err. you've had her for 3 weeks, and you don't know if she's housebroken?

I would seriously re-think your decision of bringing a doberman into your family. It sounds like your lifestyle doesn't fit the life of a typical dobie.

I can't IMAGINE leaving my dobe outside. In a doghouse?

to all the responses. There are yard dogs and there are Dobermans. Dobermans are not yard dogs. Dobermans that are forced to be yard dogs are the ones that end up in shelters or rescue and risk being picked up again by someone who thinks they are yard dogs. And they aren't chain to the tree dogs either or leave alone for extended periods dogs either.

Well i really think you need to stick around and get some good advice.. sometimes us dobe owners get all defencive.. but it does sound like you need some help and advice.

if you have had her for 3 weeks.. where has she been staying ??

dobes are house/people dogs..

even if you are at work.. there are weekend.. you must know if she goes to the toilet outside ??

if she is over 1 she can easily hold it for 8 hours so being left is not a prob.

mine stay in the kitchen so they can move around and get water.

they normally sleep the whole time im gone so they dont really need space LOL.

today i left them form 9 till 3 came home and it was raining.. and OMG they dont like water so they didnt go out for the toilet till 5 !!

please let us know your house/ family / worksituations so we can help you out some more.

a nice warm kitchen.. even with some newspaper down.. for and accidents... would be better than outside !!

do you bring her in in the evening and does she sleep inside at night ??

please reply so we can help ya !!
