Don't let a wacko with attorney scare you. That visit cost her at least $250. If you have evidence that your Dobe has been to Obedience classes ( ie 'grad' certificates), then keep them in a file where you can find them if need be. What is she going to do - sue you because she saw your dog off-leash? The best thing each of us can do for our Dobes is to have them under control and well-socialized.

Have to second MIA's suggestion - if you know the police are coming by to speak to you about your dog due to the neighbor's nuisance call, make sure he's in his crate with a favorite chew toy to distract him.

I just had this happen to me Wednesday. Not with the police but with my neighbor friend. She came over to help me collect my first crop of peaches off my tree. She is scared of big dogs and I wanted her to meet Parker to show her how friendly he is to EVEYONE. Well he barked at her(he was in the back yard at the gate). That was normal enough, but when she came closer to meet him at my urging he barked viscously and growled at her. Great, now she is really scared of him. I told her it was probably because she was scared of him and she agreed that was probably the cause and that she was very scared of him now.
Never, never has he acted that way. I was so crushed and really still am cause I wanted to take him over to her house with me when we sit out on her patio and visit, but now I don't think he would be welcome.

I only have one neighboor beside me and they love leroy...I was worried at first but they came out and said they have thought about getting a doberman and im more then welcome to let him play inside their fence with their basset (fred). But new neighboors will be moving in soon and we will see how that goes...bottom line is if they dont like my doberman "GET OVER IT" hes not going anywhere.
