| | Lil Pup | Thank you , what you say makes sense. I am so happy that I have gained valuable knowledge from this . I will talk to my family vet ASAP about testing, and will keep separated and supervised until we can control all this. I was getting tired of watching the dog whisperer over and over to try to figure out the problem while it just got worst. I will try a medical approach and go from there. Thank You!!! |

| I have to reply because I think it is relevant. Male/Male aggression can happen at any point, and once it starts and there is tension, they can never go back together.
My mentor in Dobermans had a good friend that had 2 boys that lived together peacefully for YEARS. One was 11 and the other 13. She went to the grocery store and left them together per usual uncrated. She came home, and she had 2 dead dogs. While she was gone they had "the" fight, and had bled out all over the living room and died. It is always recommended against that people try to keep 2 male Dobes. Occasionally, it does work out. It is far more likely that it will not.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > We had this problem with my neutered male Dobe and my daughters neutered PRT. They were buddies for years, stayed and played together unitl one day they got into it, neither would back down and we had to separate them. We could never let them together again.

| | Lil Pup | I wish I would of paid attention to the warnings when we decided to keep their son. it has been a a few days since the fight and one of them has been wounded worse than what first appeared. The family will never be the same. They will seperated permanently and our life is going to be crazy. I am so sad, I really can't see them the same. They mean so much to my husband and I (like kids),we are both devastated. |

It's a well-known trait in Dobermans, and actually in many breeds. They didn't do anything *to you*. Really, you did this to them by choosing to keep two males when the situation usually fails. I understand you may have done this without realizing it, but you can't look at them differently when they didn't technically do something wrong. They were put into this situation and they reacted like 2 males living together usually eventually do. You can't fault them for following a natural behaviour. |

| m/m can happen, but i'd rule out another cause first.im sorry this has occured.
first thought was medical. dogs that are vulnerable from medical ails can be agressive in defense,or the other dog senses weakness and goes after it.pain or metabolic disorder, loss of sight or other senses, anything that can make a dog feel not up to par.
my second thought, was a change in enviroment, stress levels, exersise levels,or diet change.these can lead to outbursts at times. stress can make anyone nasty. so can food allergies or nutritional deficencies.
i would rule medical cause out first. keep them seporated is all i can say. untill its decided whats up. then go from there.
