| Training pays off! All those hundreds of times I have traded what Bella had in her mouth for praise & a treat paid off royally tonight. I dropped a PERMANENT turquoise ink art pen (FULL of bright turquoise liquid!!) and ever Miss Watchful snatched it up and ran. I called her in an upbeat voice, trying to hide my fear that she would puncture the pen right on top of my oriental rug (and failing, miserably as every Doberman can read your face, of course). I sweetly asked her to bring it to me. First, the I got the lowered head & look of suspician as she eyed me with the pen tightly clamped in her mouth. "Hmmmm, this must really be a prize if she wants it that badly." Then, BAM, she trotted over to me and laid the pen in my hand! Wowee!! Tons of praise and I jumped up to get her a hunk of hot dog from the frig (major value treat). Consistent positive reinforcement training pays off - yes!

| All that hard work seems to fade into the backround when they do just ONE trained task properly! My two know that it is worth all the brownie points they win with me to drop something that I have asked for. I'm a totally babbling fool telling them what a good baby they are.
Cudos to Bella for a job well done!!

| Good girl, Bella!!!
Reminds me of when Scout got into my daughter's crayolas - we didn't catch her in the act (so obedience was even part of the equation), and didn't know until we saw the rainbow colored poop!
Good job training! |

| ROFL!!! That's a great story. Hope you were completely sober and wide awake when you found the evidence!
