| | Big Pup | Things to Train My Dobie I have an 8 month old dobie and Ive got the basic commands down such as Sit, Stay, Down, Heel and Leave it. Im now wondering what other commands and or activities one could suggest that would be fun, interesting, or purposfull. Or if someone has any interesting off shoots to do with the basic commands that would be great too.
Thanks alot! |

| Tricks - We like to teach a lot of tricks, they're fun and mentally stimulating (for both of us!).
Since Chi likes to carry things around, we worked from that and have taught her to bring us stuff. "hurry, hurry, get it" and I point to whatever, normally a remote and she'll bring it right to me - works well for shoes and keys too.
Playing dead is a fun one and is one way to reinforce "stay".
We're working on her walking backwards at heel.
These are just a few but be creative and have fun :-)

here are a few tricks How To Love Your Dog - How To Do The Tricks!
you can also teach things like turning on/off light switches, opening doors, picking up items you point to, learning to retrieve items by name, carrying items from place to place, retrieving a ringing cordless phone handset, working push buttons, finding a named person and leading them to you, carrying notes to someone, etc |

| | Big Pup | Yeh, weve done it where Ryder is in a stay and we do it with distractions. Like jumping, or tossing around his toy. |
