| Had Crap scared out of me, now I need to vomit Remember me posting that my Doberboy would not go down the basement steps? Generally I keep the basement door closed because there are places my cat could get inside the wall. Well I have been trying to take the advice I received on here. I have been leaving the door open some when I go down hoping he will think he is missing out and come down on his own. Last night I left it open when my husband was practicing and I went down with the other two dogs following me (Keeping an eye out for the cat of course). Tonight I had to go down just for a minute to put some stuff in the drying and I left the door open. About 2 hours later I heard my cat meow and could not find her. Our house is 3600sq feet. I searched every inch. She is an indoor cat but in case she escaped, I went outside, looked under the porch, inside the garage where the doggie door goes, etc.... I COULD NOT FIND MY CAT BUT COULD HEAR HER HOLLERING. OMG. I went downstairs in looked in the two areas where she could get up in the ceiling, I pulled pieces of the drop ceiling out and was ready to take the whole house apart. WEll, my husband found her. She was inside the bench of the kitchen table. He was looking for an envelope and left it open. I closed it without looking inside.
I am now going to vomit then take a double dose of benadryl to be able to sleep tonight. My hands are shaking. I had visions of her stuck inside the wall and me not being able to find her. I was ready to call the firedepartment to knock down the walls and tear out the floor. No Shit, I was at that point. It happened to a neighbor of mine once and the firedepartment had to go under the house and remove part of a heating duct or something to help the cat get out, they said the next step would be to knock out the wall.
Anyway, it is too late to call someone and spill my guts so I'm telling you guys. |

| We had to cut a hole in the attic floor once to rescue our over-curious cat--same horrible feelings. I'm glad your cat's adventure turned out all right. |

| Wow what a sneaky kitty! Turn your back for a second and she's up to all sorts of trouble!
Good thing you found her and she wasn't inside the wall. Can you imagine ripping down the wall and later find out she was in the bench?? At least you found her before you called the fire department! |

| Once when my husband was out of town, and I was home alone, I kept hearing these thumping noises that were freaking me out. I freak out, and patrol the house with my glock, thinking somebody was messing around outside.
About 20 minutes later, I heard some meowing that sounded like it was coming from outside. In my paranoid state, I though "Oh, if somebody were stalking me, or trying to get to me, imitating a cat would be a good way to lure me outside. I refuse to go check."
The next morning when I fed the critters, I couldn't find one of my cats - it turns out that when I had been in my closet earlier, he had gotten in, and then gotten into the attic, where he had been all night. I felt really dumb after that. |

| It appears the sneaky little varmits scare us all. I wonder if they do it on purpose just for a laugh, lol. Thanks everyone, I'm going to have to Cat Proof the basement as Julie says and boy am I glad I did not call the fire department. I live about 10 miles out in the country. I did sleep good last night, I took 2 benadryl. My ortho Doctor (for my neck) said it has the main ingredient as all sleeping pills but is not addictive. He said that is what he takes to sleep. Well off to start my day, SRC |

| I,m laughing, not at you, but at the fact that these cats get themselves into such spots!! Last year, we took the cats to our boat. When it came time to leave, i couldn't find the female. I was in a panic thinking she fell overboard. I had everyone looking for her. After many hours search, I sat down crying and heard a faint meow. I tracked it to the galley (kitchen). She had squeezed herself into the space next to the oven and was on a support shelf behind the stove. We had to remove the stove to get to her!! I was a wreck! I sympathize with you.

| One of our cats climbed the pull down attic stairs to "explore" uncharted territory when my husband was rearranging boxes up there one day. Luckily he saw the little explorer right away and we put her back downstairs.
Now she loves to explore my car if I open a door while unloading groceries, etc...she climbs everywhere, even into the dog crates if they are open in the back. She has also taken to sleeping in my younger dog's crate with all the fluffy bedding. We come into the bedroom and a cat streaks out of the crate! She has her own beds, fluffy throws, etc...but the dog stuff is so much better in her eyes! Crazy cats!! |
