Warning, though, if you're of the "I'll put this away after I eat one more chunk of cookie dough" type, you'll totally eat the whole thing in one sitting. Because I..uh..know somebody who did
We have a friend who's in dialysis (receiving dialysis?), and they actually "rerouted" the vein and artery together in his left arm for the purposes of the treatments. If you touch it, it feels like the power converter thinger for fish tanks, like actively "buzzy". He occasionally comes out to dinner with us after his procedure and talks about having gotten arterial spray o.o |

| In that case I'll have to give the TCBY a try soon, before I lose my appetite from the chemo!
That dialysis thing sounds uncomfortable. That is one procedure I don't want to have done to me. So glad my chemo will be pills. |

| Hey, some people never lose their appetites!
But yeah, I'm not keen on getting my blood scrubbed three times a week either...there always seem to be complications |

| Thanks for the support everyone. Started the radiation and chemo yesterday and learning how my body will respond to it. Tonight I need to try the anti-nausea medication with it; learned that the hard way last night. Hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight.
Have any of you with experience with chemo had really bad chills? I spoke to the PA at my oncologist's office and she said she hadn't heard that before. I had awful chills that felt like ice cubes were going through my veins from my torso - very strange sensation. I had several blankets piled on top of me and it finally helped. |

| My husband didn't have chemo, but he did have a picc line put in when he ended up with a staph infection after one of his back surgeries. We had to give him antibiotics and a couple other things through his line every 8 hours for a month. After every treatment he would be freezing and this is from a man who's typically a furnace! Maybe it has to do with the medicines going through your veins, it just chills the body down? Sorry, probably not very helpful!

| Chills are very common for folks on chemo. When I was still working, my department made chemo comforters for our oncology clinic, and each new chemo patient would get one. Sometimes a nice cup of hot tea, cocoa, broth or whatever helps to warm your innards, some folks like a heating pad or hot water bottle to hug, some just dress in layers to adjust to whatever climate their body decides it's in... just allow yourself to listen to your body. Hugs and warm thoughts!

| I've heard that chills are common. I've heard that a lot of people use the "bag of rice" style heating pad, where they put it in the microwave for X amount of time. |

| Thanks guys, I was worried that it was an unusual symptom. We have ordered me an electric blanket and an electric throw blanket for the couch so that should help. I swear I had so many blankets piled on top of me that it was like being muffled up in a cocoon! |

As for fro yo, I am a Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia girl. Dad bought me 2 I don't think I've ever heard of Schwann's - I'll have to look for it though. If it's kind of tart yet sweet, I could go for that!!! | It's the light yellow trucks that come around and sell ya frozen stuff. Not sure if they're nationwide, now you mention it.
And yes, tart but sweet, creamy but crunchy, sort of. Very yum.
I've had a pure ton of LP's too. Needles are nuttin' at this point, but I really can't recommend getting THAT jaded, if you can help it
I'm so glad you're getting good care and hope things continue to go smoothly for you.
Maybe not so much on the ice cream and frozen yogurt, until you're done with the chill pills, huh?

| Had two good nights' sleep since then - YAY! The anti nausea stuff really works great. I can tell my body is fighting it when I wake up in the middle of the night but the medication is winning and I am able to sleep. I wear a hat and scarf on my head and my mom makes fun of me that I look like a little babushka lady from Poland, but ya do what ya gotta do...
They rescheduled my radiation (they had assigned me evenings because that was all that was left) to daytime appointments that are much more convenient. So things are going well.
I think my ex's mom used to order from Schwann's. Do they do meals too? I think she used to get entrees and things from them, years ago. I'll have to be on the lookout!

| Dad left for a few days yesterday on a necessary business trip, so it is just mom and me for now. When we went to radiation in the afternoon, we must not have latched the front door all the way so it opened too easily when we got home. We checked the house and everything was okay, but I had trouble falling asleep last night panicking at every sound (I'm a super fraidy cat and can't turn it off). Once I fell asleep I did fine but I got up to go to the bathroom and was staring at the shadows of plants (my dad's yard is literally a jungle which also freaks me out) trying to discern if there was a prowler. At least that was "normal" insomnia. |

| I was living in an apt. out near Philadelphia. I woke up one night to the sound of the living room t.v. I started to panic wondering who was in my apt. I got up to creep down the hallway and check it out when I realized I didn't have my glasses on. So of course that added to the anxiety as I rushed back to get my glasses and then crept down the hallway again. Turns out my cats had turned the t.v. on. I had never had that happen before. And of course it happens in the middle of the night after I've already fallen asleep. Eek! |

| Schwann's is very big in San Diego county, so probably in OC, too... we never got stuff from them because we thought they were ridiculously expensive, but they are popular!
Get yourself one of those little air horns to keep by your bed if you are insecure. Then, if you think there's something weird going on, you can blare it and scare the poopy out of everyone!
Glad you are getting sleep, and feeling positive.

| Slept much better last night. 2 nights in a row of no middle of the night wakeup! Plus I had a new hat that the nurse at the cancer center gave me (I meet with a nurse once a week to see how I'm doing and she gave me a cute hat) and it didn't itch or ride up. It's still really cold here but I brought another super warm sweatshirt (fleece lined) from my house to wear and that really helps.
We watched the Hunt for Red October last night - mom and I love that movie! |

| Doing well here, starting to feel a little fatigued but not serious. Will keep an eye on it. Other than that, things are going well. I got notified by SDI that my card and payments have been approved so that is a relief. Gotta pay the bills still!
Still trying to decide about visiting with Elke, especially if I am getting more fatigued. I miss her but I want her to be happy. I have to get her a vaccination this month at least so I'll see her then. I am told she is her usual rambunctious self, which is nice to hear - she is good at outsmarting people
So no news here, which is good news. |

| Glad to hear things are going so well, I will keep the prayers coming. I think Elke would like a visit, but you have to feel up to it, so let how you feel be the deciding factor. I cant imagine being away from my babies for so long but sometimes we just have to do things for our own good. Keep getting better!
