Im sorry but this is getting so out of hand, it's sickening. This is a photo a relative of mine shared on FB. This photo is from an actual group called I Hate Dog Breeders. She constantly shares these photos and I'm just going to delete her because I'm tired of being harassed and bullied for purchasing a well-bred dog from a responsible breeder.



I really want to comment about the fact that Zeus's mom is a hypocrite for killing the rest of the dogs on the euth list at the shelter that day for not also adopting them. I feel like these certain rescuers and adopters are putting themselves on a pedestal and are getting worse and worse with their behavior.

People "like" stupid stuff on FB all the time, probably not thinking anything of it. I'd say that's not worth getting all wound up over. Seems pretty benign to me?

I know I know, but it's just crazy! It's more malignant to me though ;p I really do see this behavior getting worse, I'm waiting for the day when my relative shows up where I live with a pitchfork and a torch and a noose for my Doberman!


By the way, I clicked on that photo to see the comments and they are all praising Zeus's mom, one woman dubbed it "breeder shaming" oh lawdy.

when I'm feeling feisty, I put up a post on the importance of responsible and ethical dog breeders (and therefore the importance of purebreeding) to ensure stable trait characteristics....especially for working companions..on these militant pages. Most of them actually back down and qualify their statements when you put up a calm, scientific and rational argument that separates the emotion from issue. Reminding them that poor and indescriminate breeding for profit alone is the problem...and that supporting ethical and responsible breeders is the only way the bad practices are going to be stamped out....or it brings their icky PETA agenda out in the open for all to see

maybe it's cause I'm an aussie...but sometimes it's impossible to resist poking/proding nasty bitey things with sticks.

All kinds of shenanigans to be found on Facebook. I think some people like things just for the sake of clicking the button. The sarcastic side of me that comes out when I see those kind of martyr-like statements says that sign on that dog should have read: "Hi, I'm Zeus. I'm alive today because I'm not a big black dog, a pit bull, an ugly dog, or a dog with special needs. I'm little and cute and that saved my life."

Getting a puppy from a good, reputable breeder is just fine. Supporting rescue is also just fine. I have rescues, but am planning on a puppy from a good breeder in the future. And thanks to this forum, I know exactly what to look for, having never purchased a puppy from a breeder before. It's about being responsible and providing a good home for the dogs you have, not in gloating over getting one from a certain place.

So much mis-education....

I get the whole think about adoption first thing but that is one of the worst "join our side" styles of advertisements i've seen. It's all about the "shock and aww" and not about the facts *sigh* I'm not sure how much more of humanity I can take today, I'm off to hug my dog, the one any shelter would have put down not adopted to me or anyone...yet she's from a breeder. Boggles the mind huh?

Agree, I always urge adoption first but then educate people on how to choose a good breeder if adoption is not for them.

All the pics have the same "I hate dog breeders" tag attached... I'm guessing this IS actually a PETA sect. Social networking is tricky thing, and THAT level of crazy is almost always the same group of wing nuts. I'd bet a dollar it's a PETA page

Erg these photos really irritate me... I have probably gone through about a dozen rescue corgi's from Petfinder & Adopt a pet to adopt. I want to rescue one first but my luck really hasn't been that great. They either get adopted before my email, Wont adopt out of state and other things. It is getting really tiring and depressing. The Local pembroke clubs don't have any available either. (living in the tri-states sucks) It might come down to that I will have to find a reputable breeder. Cant say I haven't tried : /

I just won't even associate myself with militant anyone; whether they're vegans, christans, anti-abortionists, gun nuts, straight edge, PETA or rescuers - they're a bunch of crazies. People like that are just unpleasant to be around, no one should have to put up with bullying because of a difference of opinion. There is a difference between being passionate about something and trying to educate and being a total loon.

All that - I hate breeders blah blah, I can almost guarantee, is being posted by PETA or HSUS. That was one of their main marketing messages. For every dog you buy, one in the shelter dies! Etc., etc.. All I know is that I've worked with great rescues and horrible rescues, and great breeder dogs and horrible ones and I am talking both good breeders and BYB greeders. So tired of PETA & HSUS rhetoric and nonsense. Getting a purebred allows one the choice of what they want in a pet as far as size, coat, working drives, abilities and such. They are choices that you just don't get when adopting what is many times a mixed breed pup. Sorry I just lose it when it comes to unreasonable, unbending mindsets.

I'd say HSUS more than PETA, the former supports adoption only and the later see's a problem with the domesticated dogs and cats even exisiting.

I also try not to give peta crap as a whole, I may not agree but a lot of the "crazy" stuff that happens I don't think is necessrily ok'ed by the actual group it seems like it's moreso groups or single people doing an overzealous job in there name...just my take at least.

I think it's so horridly unfair to judge me for my choice not to adopt. I personally just don't like owning a mix dog, I prefer a purebred, and after mabel i'm buying a puppy, why? because I deserve a fresh start from a stable base after what mabel is (god love her) and going to someone ethical breeding for sound temperaments is the only guarantee i'll get a "normal" dog who is as healthy as possible knowingly
