Not taking sides here, don't feel stongly either way and it's an interesting discussion about social media and PETA type agendas, but you ARE kinda defensive about Prime.

I'm super defensive about things I care about too, so it's not a slam, just an observation.

Reread your posts in this thread about thinking it's aimed at you and Prime and the "torches and pitchforks" stuff.

Most real rescuers couldn't care less. One of my best friends in rescue has an extraordinary dog and is super involved in our rescue and everyone loves that dog. How could we not, shes stunning.

I dunno, if some of my Facebook friends started posting and sharing things that said "If your dog is from a breeder it means you KILLED PUPPIES" I might be a little upset. Depending on the friend, I would either try to talk to them about it, or I would defriend them and be done. Some of my "Facebook friends" are in fact people that I know in person, but some are people that I know in person and it would cause more trouble than it's worth to defriend them unprovoked. Stupid friends anyway.

All I said is "sorry, reputable breeders do not contribute to animal overpopulation, they produce very few letters, only breed to better the breed, follow their dogs for life, and will take them back if the owner can no longer care for them. And no rep breeder would use a rape stand" said person thinks all breeders use rape stands.

And they deleted my comment. Don't like to hear anyone that disagrees. Lol wow

You can't rationalize with these types. I saw my relative that i mentioned in my post at Christmas dinner. We got along fine like we always do, she talked a little about rescue so we vented about puppy mills/BYBs and people who know better but still buy from them. My mom was sitting next to me and started talking about the 2 week old GSD litter I'm helping to take care of at the moment. She went on and on about their cuteness and asked questions about the breeding. I was kind of laughing on the inside wondering if my relative's head was going to explode from the responsible breeder and litter chat. I definitely felt there was tension. The relative stayed dead silent. Heh.


Hank, one guy on IG liked a photo of prime and told me that his brother breeds dobes. I replied back with some questions as it was clear the brother is a BYB. I remained civil and explained good points and I got some bad backlash from him....along the lines of "HE JUST BREEDS WELL LOVED PETS RAWRR!"

These guys are NOT benign. They actually went after another group (I love responsible dog breeders), threatened to harm an admin, released personal info about her home business, address, full name, private profile etc, and called for a "lynching" for the supposed dog deaths brought on by breeder support.

They have flooded breeder pages, weight pull pages, harassed in person/over the phone, and have even started attacking forums.

They are lunatics, and will be nasty as hell about it if you catch their attention.

These guys are almost as easy to reason with as some of my relatives - they think I have the political ideas I have just because my mom apparently "brainwashed" me. Apparently I'm brainwashed/can't think for myself since I have a different opinion It's really sad that this kind of propaganda flies around, because it leads to people not being as informed about issues. It reminds me of any-political-party-ever.

(Actually, over Christmas, they tried to shame me for spending as much as I did on my dog - they were shaming one of my cousins for spending $2k on a gorgeous, well-bred Bengal. I responded with "Does the breeder health test/title?" She responded with "Yes." I responded "Well, what's all the fuss about, then?" I got many bad looks. Oh and then there was my mom arguing that only mutts are healthy dogs and that it's ridiculous that I considered spending $400 on a rescue Dobe before getting J!)

I hate closed-minded people. I mean it is all well and good to have personal beliefs and convictions, but why why WHY does everyone have to get so extreme and militant when it comes to those beliefs?

I love my extended families pack of dogs, it includes everything from a $2000 show quality GSD, to a rescued 5lbs Yorkie. Actually I will make a list just because it is insane how many dogs we have in my wife's family.

the person I posted about follows my (Bronsons) instagram, and I forget her username until I click it after she likes my photo, and I see her novels of comments on her photos, and then I remember.

She had a huge page, pretty much saying she thinks everyone should spay/neuter at the earliest age possible, and there's no excuse not to, and nothing anyone says could convince her otherwise. She says herself, that no one could convince her otherwise. And she will trash talk anyone that disagrees with her and can't even have a civil conversation at all.
Some one was trying to say they are totally capable of having an intact dog, thanks. And she said you would only have an intact animal if you intend to breed them. And then started name calling/screenshoting the comments, just to repost and more trash talk. I swear these people are 12 years old.

Ironically Hank, on another forum there's a bunch of 12-15yos who say those exact same words and who got on my case when I said I would not purposely neuter a male prior to 18-24 months. And some people who have been in college/uni, and even a couple that claim to be conformation breeders, who also say the same. I suppose to some people the world is entirely black and white.

That said you wouldn't believe how many people on that forum liked to claim that since I wanted a puppy from a reputable breeder, I'm a purebred snob and I've never done any rescue work and I might as well have put the needle in those poor euthed dogs in shelters myself. They get real quiet when I go into individual stories on my previous forays into rescue as a young child up to now... also when they realize I'm not some kiddo who can be easily brainwashed by a couple people screaming at me to change my mind.

You know not for nothing but these pictures make me aggravated especially the one comparing those who show their dogs, im sorry Ive been showing since I was a child not for the joy of showing my dogs off or making money but the bond i have when showing a dog the charisma that my dog and I can show case and prove that we have such a wonderful friendship that we may compete together in sync. Now im pretty sure they wouldnt be all breeder bashing if someone made a page saying something like "oh why have kids if theres plenty of starving ones to adopt" sorry if i crossed some bounds. My dogs are my children and i have adopted plenty and make sure the least I can do is try to find homes for those less fortunate souls. There are breeders and there are those who benefit from the profit of a life, and Im sorry to say but all those adopted dogs come from some sort of breeding so in a chain of ways they are still getting their dog from a breeder. My heart goes to anyone that takes in and treats their furry, scaly, non human companion with the love care and compassion they deserve, no body deserves to be judged or bashed on where or whom they buy from but the occasional education that may seem harsh for those whom may have not done extent research is just a sign of caring. sometimes stupidity has no bounds for people.

Oh I have. That forum doesn't do it too much anymore ever since I posted a picture of myself (I'm black) though. And I'm the next Hitler since apparently I somehow said that all unhealthy dogs and mutts should be tortured and killed when what I really said was that only healthy purebreds with titles should be bred as a general rule. And I'm a murderous baby-killing abortionist for politely suggesting someone have their husky/GSD mix that "accidentally" got with the neighbor's blue heeler mix emergency spayed.

My favorite was when someone who brags about buying their goldendoodle for "a steal" because the breeder was terrible so they "consider her a rescue"... thanked me for not going to a breeder to get Skoll. O...kay... I wonder if they realize I'm still getting a working GSD sometime years from now from a breeder...

Oh, and I don't leave that forum because while there's a lot of this kind of silliness going on, there's also quite a few friends I've made that don't participate in the silliness and I enjoy looking at their topics on their animals whenever there's updates.
