| X-Mas Gift Q&A Everyone feel free to add your own questions and ideas to this thread.
Gift 1: Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on personal coffee makers? The Keurig seems to have the best reviews, but they are so dang expensive. I was hoping to stay below $100.00.

| All I can think of every time I see a keurig commercial (or see it presented on QVC) is "Are those little things made out of plastic that hangs around for a zillion years in a landfill, or do they decompose? If they're plastic, can you recycle them?"

| Do you have to always use filtered water? Does grocery stores carry the k-cups or do you have to order them? Also, can you use other brands of cups?

I do always use filtered water. I don't remember the model that I have but it was $129 @ Costco.
Grocery stores carry K-cups, but Costco is by far a cheaper way to go.

| I think that if my parent's house was on fire my mom would make a point the grab the Keurig before getting out (okay, I mat be exaggeration but she loves that thing). I don't know which model they have.

| OMG!!! So, I never shop QVC, but I looked it up thanks to Rosemary... And it is the daily special. You get the platinum plus series, 64 cups, and some filters. It lasts until midnight. What luck is that! Thanks Rosemary!
Maggie- Do you mean Costco has its own brand of k-cups that you use?

You guys have made up my mind for me. I think I will go ahead and order a Keurig. Thanks for your help!

Plus when you purchase your first Keurig, if you go online to keurig.com, I believe if you enter your product ID they will send you a free case if you purchase a case online.
That is what I remember when I bought mine, anyway.

But for me it isn't about the cost per cup, it is about the convenience. I am willing to pay for that

If I got a keurig, I'd have to use that, since my favorite coffee is a store brand.

| I have a Keurig, the other half bought it not me... but when he went to Alaska I kept it and I LOVE IT. Seriously, I don't drink but a cup at a time so it's perfect. Sometimes if you watch on Amazon you can get good deals on the k-cups. I follow some couponing sites and they post about K-cup deals. Also, when I registered "my" Keurig I got 2 k-cup boxes for free when I purchased 2 boxes plus 20% off on my order.
The reusable filters that they sell for the k-cups, it's called the eco-brew, they had one of those on the Coast Guard boats and I guess it broke the needle to the Keurig, not sure if it was user operator or anything but just something to think about. I've personally never used one so I don't know.

| Bed, Bath and Beyond has K-Cups and those never ending streams of coupons in the mail for $5 off $20 or 20% off. Kohl's also carries the coffee and has coupons/discounts. |

| I found one today that I ordered. It is from kohls. It was on sale for $119 then 20% off. So after S&H it is like $100! Perfect!
Falnfenix- the gift is for my bro and sis in law. They work different shifts, so I don't think they ever brew pots of coffee, but I know they like to stop by coffee houses and get cups. So, we'll see if they like it...

| ahh, in that case, yeah, a Keurig would probably work best. my SO can go through almost a pot before he leaves the house...and the remainder usually goes to my plants. it's AMAZING how many plants like coffee. |

| We have Tassimos & they are great - but my dh has recently decided that he likes the coffee from his brother's Keurig better, so I suspect there will be one under the tree.
I think the Tassimo coffee is less expensive than the Keurig, but I've never seen a refillable pod.
(If you have a Tassimo, the Nabob coffee is much better than the Maxwell house & the original Braun brewers make better coffee than the current Bosch ones.)
