Ecofans!

I saw one of these years ago at one of our local mushroom buying stations and thought they were so cool!

Caframo - Ecofans, specialty fans and heaters, overhead stirrers

I bought one the other day and am sooooooooooo impressed by how it works!

shortly after I set it up on my wood stove it started turning and has not stopped, even with the stove turned down at night it just keeps on turning!

never before has my cabin been so warm and cozy in all corners!

and it works so quietly............

very cool purchase I must say.

worth every penny!

Pearl likes it too...it blows hot air over her while she lays by the stove.

So what, you just stand them on top of your wood stove and it turns and circulates the air? How does it save fuel? I know you've only just got it but would you say you've noticed a difference in how much fuel you use now to before? They look very interesting but really need more info from someone using, so I hope you'll post more as time progresses.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I've always wondered if they are worth it.

We use an electric fan behind our wood stove to get the air to circulate. We manage to heat our small house with our stove, for most of the winter and only use the furnace to maintain a decent temp. for our dog when we are at work.

Toby'shuman....without the heat being circulated through the cabin, the heat rises to the ceiling, the corners stay cool and the floor is cool too.

so I add more wood to the stove to try and keep warmer............

the Ecofan circulates the heat throughout the cabin..corners are warm, floor is too.....so I throw less wood into the stove to keep warm, and so.................I save on fuel!

and as the Ecofan 'makes' its own power...............it cost me nothing to run.

my wood stove does have a fan and blower at the back and it does work great, but, it runs on electricity so costs me to run it and it is soooooooo noisy!

the Ecofan is almost silent!

and YES, you just take it out of the box and stand it in the proper position on your wood stove, and..it just goes and goes and goes!

the fan has not stopped turning yet!

and as I was sitting here with Pearl's 'toots' wafting around....I got this idea!

why not put a little pot of water with dried apples, cinnamon chunks and whole cloves in it on the stove too so that the fan would blow the wonderful scents around the house.........

it smells awesome in here now!

kick myself in the arse that I did not do this a week ago............

and do you know how hard that is too do?

i mean ..............to kick yourself in the arse......

I think I pulled a muscle.
