| Ebay/Paypal account just hacked!
My ebay/paypal account was just hacked! They are linked to my bank account. Within about an hour I *won* 2500.00 worth of auctions and they were starting to be debited out of my checking account.  I called my bank, ebay, and paypal to clear it up....but I'm annoyed! They had to close my debit card and send me a new one. I changed all my passwords. I get a direct debit tomorrow....I guess this will hold up some of my paycheck.
What a day......oh and I had a chimney fire this morning....so I had to miss work. No real damage but now I can't use my wood stove until I get it fixed My dogs LOVE the wood stove. |

| I do hope your bank refund you the money.
It kinda sucks on 2 levels, first your money was being stolen but thankfully you learnt about it before any more damage was done than already had been. And secondly the poor person selling has been done out of a legitimate sale.
All I can say is, I hope the person responsible is caught and dealt with severely.
God how I hate thieves.

I'm sure Toby will forgive you once you make a big fire for him! My dogs will stand right in front of the wood stove.....even if it's 75 in the house!  | |

| I just found out they change my shipping address on my account....so if I had not noticed this anything I bought would have been shipped to them!

| Sucks! Sorry to hear it, I hope they get it "fixed" quickly!
I had the same happen not too long ago. As a result, I have a completely different bank that I keep "no" money in. When I need to Paypal I will go add cash to that bank. Prevents that issue. It is a bit of a pain in the @ss, but much less so than fixing a compromised account.

| Dang - that's utterly stinkin' !! Last year, shortly before the holidays, I started getting notified by our CC companies, asking if I had been shopping in Chicago, Long Island (NY), and also got one call that said " we assume this wasn't you, since you bought gas and did some shopping in your own town while purchases were being made with this card in upstate NY!" ... anyway, it turns out that thieves now have a way to electronically capture ALL magnetic strips (CC's, licenses, insurance cards, whatever) just by walking past you - the device just reads ALL the info in your wallet, and the thieves can then recreate cards exactly like yours, AND ID!!... so we had to cancel every single thing, and have everything reissued!!

I ask because surely your Feds or whomever investigate fraud/theft (because this is what it is) might be able to find the culprits and/or inform whatever countries law enforcement agencies they are in of these peoples base and get them shutdown.
In my opinion if they have done it to you, you can bet your ebay/paypal account they have done it to others and are still doing it.
Don't let the authorities sweep this under the table, whilst $2500 might be chicken feed to them, it is a whole world of pain to others, heck I couldnt afford to have 2.50 euros go out of my account and not feel it.
