| Thank the Higher Powers for PBS PBS is my only hope of halfway understanding quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity. The math is beyond me, but I have always loved science. PBS is wonderful about breaking things down to where a person can get a grip on how the world and beyond works. Wednesday at 8:00 pm cst there is to be another great program delving deeper. I think it is The Fabric of the Cosmos. I await eagerly! Does anyone love and appreciate these shows as much? |

| I grew up watching OETA. To this day, I still prefer the "educational" channels to network idiocy.

| I love my "nerd" shows. My cousin works for CERN, and is really good about explaining things as well, but I have yet to get a really clear explanation on the Higgs-Bozon that I'm after. I just don't think I have a grip on it yet.

| Yup, love 'em.
More addicted to the nature shows, and Masterpiece Classic, but I do love Nova and all things science-y. Math is my nemesis, so you gotta go slow and simple, for me to get that schtuff.

I can't remember the name of the Nova program, but it is older as I have seen it before. My retention just isnt what it used to be. You could look it up and watch on the PBS site under Nova programs. I believe the next program I mentioned covers the string theory and parallel universes. I think this will be the one that mentions using the Haldron Collider to prove this theory. Both programs are excellent and at least a year old. |

Dont remember if that is covered in the next program or not, but they have succeeded, sorta, proving that one recently. OMG, I wish I had a cousin that worked at CERN! I would so pick his/her brain and tape what they said!!! Seems like they did mention the God particle in the program. |

And as far as my cousin is concerned, drunken holiday conversation is always a "blast"... Haaaa..

| Just as a note, please write your congressional representatives, and tell them to NOT de-fund the Corperation For Public Broadcasting, or there might not be any more PBS (or public radio). Every so often, the more conservative members take a wild hair to completely de-fund the CPB. CPB is the major source of funding for local PBS TV stations (and also for local public radio stations). Without that funding, a lot of stations (espcially those in smaller markets) would go dark.

I do know they tried to dump public funding during the Bush/Bill Moyers years, maybe that was coincidence. Thanks for the heads up!!! |

| This week it was TIME!?! Okay, guess I need to watch this one 3 or 4 times(ha ha, note the "time" reference), because I just couldnt grasp this one. Didnt help that I didnt give full attention to the program. Hope they show it again. Did anyone watch the "Nova, "Fabric of the Cosmos" Time chapter? Anyone totally understand it. This was kind of like when I got lost in math long ago. UGH! |

Thanks for the heads up!!! | They have to vote on it every year. What is voted on this year takes effect in two years. My husband works for the NPR affiliate here, so CPB funding is something that really matters to us. If they completely cut funding to CPB, there are probably 70 to 80 TV and radio stations that will go dark (off the air), including the one he works for.
